Just got done watching and I totally love it. Can't wait to see more :hyper
So who else has seen it?  I enjoyed the way they handle his death-escape plan.
Agreed. I'd forgotten how funny this show could be.

I felt the funny bits were the best parts. I enjoyed John's rebuttals to finding Sherlock alive.

How much does continuity matter in Doctor Who? I really, really like Peter Capaldi but I don't know if I want to watch the previous seven seasons.

Most seasons are self-contained but the last seasons are definitely worth watching. At least since 2005, I haven't seen the earlier ones.

every new 'Doctor' (actor playing the doctor) is a reboot of sorts, almost like James Bond but with more baggage.  you'll be fine starting with Capaldi/12th Doctor if you're quick to pick up on the concepts.  like, The Doctor usually travels with a human Companion, and Capaldi's is a girl named Clara introduced in the last season.

even though the new series has seven seasons it's more like two separate shows.  Seasons 1 to 4 is one.  Seasons 5 to 7 is the other.  so, if you want a crash course you can just watch parts of Season 1 or Season 5.   and the modern series uses continuity from the twenty-some seasons of the old series.  don't worry about continuity.

Last season was terrible imo so bringing back Harmon was the right move. Still haven't seen the episode yet.

Watched them both. Yep both good episodes. Both leagues ahead of anything offered last season. Dan Harmon simply has a feel for the show that you can't detach without making it suck.

I wouldn't say the new Sherlock was one of the show's better episodes, but it's really great to have it back. I think they handled his return well; I just think the centerpiece mystery was kinda bleh.

Way LTTP: Making my way through the first season of David Tennant Doctor Who. I think I like Tennant better than Eccleston, surprisingly. Billie Piper has a really cute butt. The Cybermen episodes were fairly meh, but I liked a couple of elements they put in were a lot of fun; the creator of the cybermen is probably the worst actor I've ever seen on the show, though.

Only slightly LTTP: Almost Human, ep. 2 was very good. I am anxious to see how they deal with the nature of the robots' own lives. I mean, the modern, emotionless ones are basically treated like appliances. They're machines. However, the ones with emotions are afforded respect, and engage humans in all manner of social contract binds. The show has tremendous potential; I will be stunned if it lives up to it, but it is doing pretty well, so far!

I wouldn't say the new Sherlock was one of the show's better episodes, but it's really great to have it back. I think they handled his return well; I just think the centerpiece mystery was kinda bleh.
Yeah, I felt exactly the same. It wasn't bad like that The Hound of the Baskervilles episode though! It was more-or-less just there to recover/re-gather the players onto the stage.  I laughed a lot and enjoyed it. I'm anxious to see who the new baddie is.

New Sherlock was the bomb. Scottish fangirl made me bust out laughing.
Same here. Hilarious to see it winking at the damned slashfic crowd.

2nd episode of Sherlock was a lot of fun. It's mostly based upon Sherlock's character within this version and having him socially challenged, but I feel like it's a ton of set up as well for some big reveal.

Been watching the Good Wife since it popped up on Netflix me and the wifey have already gone through season 1 and are halfway through season 2.

Very enjoyable show and great characters excellent guest stars too. And the casting director seems to be a Wire fan judging by how many cast members have popped up.

Its also very fun as we know Archana, so seeing her in the Kalinda role is  :hyper

The first episode of the fifth season of Justified was great.  The biggest downside was the retconning that went on with the Crowes but since I'm not a canon obsessed nerd, who gives a shit.  Tramp stamps, bare chick asses, and people getting their shit ruined, a great start to hopefully a great season :rock

Not that anybody cares but the series finale of Treme was the definition of "all right". Nothing really happened other than a few minor plot arcs being wrapped up and everybody went home with a happy ending.

GAF, The Coli, and my twitter friends seemed to really like True Dectective.

I decided to watch the new Downton Abbey Christmas special instead. Very entertaining Paul Giamatti guest appearance, and overall it was a good episode despite a couple ridiculous side plots. I don't think the show will ever return to its S1 or S3 heights, and largely now gets by with good, often times repetitve, character moments. I really enjoy most of them, and will continue watching even though S4 was disappointing.

I think in lesser hands, some of the lines would have come off cheesy or too literary, but McConaughey is just fucking phenomenal. How was he stuck in romantic comedy hell for so long?

Episodes 2 and 3 are among the shows' best. Really, really great season. Glad they introduced a new plot at the end of the season. With Martin and Benedict's recent success I was worried they'd consider themselves too big for TV and this would be the last season.

I watched the Prisoner Mini-series from 2009. I always wanted to watch but never got around to it until now.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Prisoner_(2009_miniseries)

It was a mess unfortunately. There was a core of a clever idea there but the execution was poor. The tone was too serious. I thought Caviezel sucked. (Ian Mckellen was the only one who really came off decent). And it has none of the sly wit and charm that the original series nailed. So thumbs down. Don't waste your time if you were in a similar situation to me.

I believe they said series 4 and 5 are planned.  It's always possible I'm imaging things, but I don't think I am this time.

I liked this last episode almost as much as scandal in belgravia.  Season 3 has been great and consistent.  The second episode of the first two seasons were way off from the quality of the other four (or seven).
