Watching s2 of Defiance while I have access to USA cable. It's good. Me re involved than s1, but no one likes anyone else now. Stahma hates Datak Tarr, her husband. The new mayor hates everybody. The kid deputy hates everyone he used to love. Irisa hates herself.

Bonus points for a new character straight up calling out Nolan for being a Han Solo wannabe. I LOL'd.

Pied Piper's Workplace Harassment Policy

Quote
Time to get real here, people.

We’ve had a lot of fun on this blog. No one more than I. You have no idea how I look forward to settling down with the ol’ laptop, a nice pear cider and banging out a post for you good folks to read. But now, I want to start a dialogue about something of great importance, particularly here in the Valley where our track record has been decidedly mixed: I’m talking about Pied Piper’s workplace harassment policy.

Pied Piper has instituted a zero-tolerance workplace harassment policy. Any employee experiencing harassment is urged to report this to the Acting Vice-Director of Human Resources—that’s me (no one else wanted to do it). I made myself vice instead of full acting director so as not to seem intimidating to employees wishing to report abuse. After a report of this kind, an investigation will occur. The employee(s) in question will be spoken to. And if appropriate, disciplined up to actual termination (!). The anonymity of the complainant will be strictly maintained.

Pied Piper will, of course, have zero tolerance for harassment based on gender, race, sexuality, religion or lack thereof, class, trans status or ableness. Pied Piper will also of course not merely prohibit harassment that is direct and public but also less direct harassment that creates a hostile workplace. But furthermore, Pied Piper will join the cutting edge of the harassment-detection industry in forbidding microaggressions, nanoaggresions, picoaggressions, yoctoaggressions and all such oppression “particles,” if you will, down to the quantum level.

Pied Piper additionally forbids man-splaining, white-splaining, straight-splaining, cis-splaining, able-splaining, splain-splaining, splain-plaining, splain-shaming and, in general, saying things people doesn’t like. Discussion or possession of the Kurt Vonnegut short story “Harrison Bergeron” will be grounds for immediate termination.

Next Tuesday, I will lead a harassment workshop, “Understanding  Why What You’re Saying Is Terrible.” There will be cupcakes.

Possibly landing on Hulu for a two-season deal.

NBC/Universal owns it (and part of Hulu) and those episodes would put it into syndication territory.

CBS picked up a Criminal Minds spin-off, to go with their NCIS spin-offs and CSI spin-off.

Though apparently CSI: Cyber might not be back? Could these really be the last two episodes?!?

Smart call imo. Agent Carter started strong but fizzled towards the end and those two characters on shield are a big part of why s2 has been much stronger than the first. It would hurt the show to lose them. Agent Carter just needs an arc that's actually meant for the episode order they receive. S1 should have been four eps tops.

I'd like to recommend Chef's Table on Netflix, watched it earlier this week and it was excellent. It's obvious to see why and how this was made; they noticed that people were streaming the fuck out of Jiro Dreams of Sushi and wanted to create an equivalent. It's very clearly made in the mold of that movie. The music, the cinematography, the focus on ideology and background, it's kind of a shameless bite if i'm going to be honest (forgive me the pun) but since I love JDoS i love this one too. Not all the installments are created equal (i'll let you decide on which) but overall i think it's a very entertaining experience.

Here's to hoping season 2 gets made and has Redzepi and Danny Bowien :noah

It has been pretty wonderful. Only one I didn't like (in fact I skipped to the next about halfway through) was Patagonia-man. I always find those Most Interesting Man in the World types to wear out their welcome pretty quickly.

Last two I've watched were probably my favorite, the Japanese N/naka chef and the Australian Attica chef. I always appreciated humble, unassuming people creating great things.

And I need to try a hangi next time I'm out our family cottage :lawd

Avatar s2 is gawdly so far, but can't stand Azula.  Two dimensional character that needs to get murdered ASAP. Hopefully she's season 2's Xiao. :lol

She's infinitely more interesting and dangerous than Zao.

She doesn't die but s3 does wrap her up pretty well.

I agree to a point about N/naka, though I don't think it was just NBC Olympics-esque fluff. I found her whole story low key interesting but it squeezed out time for other things I'd have liked to see.

I wish they could've walked through the whole customized menu system for each customer. Keeping notes on likes/dislikes on customers is one thing, but creating a unique serving each night for each guest (to what extent??) seems unmanageable, would've been nice to see how far they actually pushed the system.

I liked the Agents of Shield finale.  the series started and ended strong, middle was kinda weak and gave me heroes flashbacks at points, like with the woman who glued razor blades to her nails or something.

also on comic shows, I caught up on Gotham and except for the Fish stuff, which I had no clue what was happening with the eyes and all that I just didn't care, it's solid show.  gordon and bullock are a good team and having it all set in super corrupt, super weird city makes for intriguing scenarios.  I don't know if it's picked up for a second season but I'd keep watching.  on the finale
