American Vandal had me in stitches.

Absolutely genius writing.

I need to try and watch that when I'm not tired. Fell asleep watching the first ep. I don't think that's a reflection on the show, merely the amount of overtime I've been doing.

It's consistently funny throughout, highly recommend. Also @overtime

Stranger Things 2 is out tomorrow, looking forward to that. No spoilers please everyone.

Mr. Robot had another fucking great episode last night. This season is a huge course correction from the misstep of S2, glad to have this show be enjoyable again.

Eh I was lukewarm on last night's Mr. Robot.

Suit dude is annoying.

Tyrell never really did much for me.

I didn't need the "mystery" of "what happened before Eliot woke up in the car" explained.

I'd rather have the current narrative pushed forward.

Person of Interest: I kinda want Samaritan's primary asset, Martine, the big blonde, to do bad things to me. Mid s4 right now:

I was nearly positive that Shaw was, in fact, dead. It's neat that they're torn about sizing down their team, not wanting to risk more lives than their own — they knew they'd both end up dead eventually, and wanted to minimize collateral damage.

Also awesome that Fusco has gone from hopeless heel to redemption-facing hero, even if he still looks like he sleeps in his suit.

Going to watch Stranger Things later, going trough my dailies now - Orville, Arrow, Supernatural ( :-\ ), Good Place etc.

GF and I started the Good Place on a whim about a month ago and ended up binging the whole first season in a couple days. Loved their willingness to take sharp left turns with their premise. Ted Danson must have so much fun with his character.

Waiting for a solid chunk of the current season to be done so we can binge again.

The Good Place is real good. I will be smug and say that I called the twist in episode one which I'm happy about.

Girlfriend and I watched and finished Mindhunters which was cool. The final scene for Holden was super tense, but it was a strange beat to end the series on.

My wife and I binged the first season over a week last Spring. It was fantastic. We did the first five episodes of the second season together (since we'd been marathoning all of Outlander lately and hadn't been watching anything else) last week and it just as good but different.

This reminds me of the thing that bugged me about It. The kids were obsessed with Street Fighter, but in reality, nobody even knew that game existed until the sequel came out.

I know they’re trying to have another Ouija on the wall type thing, but Will’s map is teh dumb. How are we supposed to believe it was assembled correctly when 90% of the individual segments are straight corridors? How did they know when to use an intersection? And which intersection?

This was a show for Willcos from the get-go, but they really half-assed this season. Probably should have taken an extra year to polish. The only reason I haven’t mentioned the bad and unnecessary new characters yet is because they still have time to do something—anything—with them.

I finished Stranger Things 2 and I loved it. The only thing is episode 7. It's place in the sequence of episodes is pretty shitty. If this were a weekly show, I'd be really pissed. As for the episode itself:

It's pretty much a superfluous sidestory. You can skip it without missing much. They shouldn't have opened the season with Eight since that suggests she would have more to do with the season, but she's just a guest star, basically.

Stranger Thangs 2 thoughts:

spoiler (click to show/hide)

What I liked:
-Ellie/Hopper story. Episode 2 was good as well.
-Shadow Monster design
-Steve gets even better as a character.
-The elements that were good before are still good. The kid actors/setting.

What I thought was hit and miss:
-Madmax and her brother. I liked Max and thought she added something to Lucas, but I was hoping there would be more there than a divorce story. Felt like the biggest mystery for most of the series and then it's "oh they left cuz
divorce." Her brother also served no purpose than a stereotype.
-Nancy's love triangle. One of my issues here is that they get the kids interactions right. They come off as genuine. Then the show does teenager and its damned cliche. Only thing good about it was the reporter clowning on them with the pull out line.

What I felt did not work:
-Eight. Just felt like a different show and out of tone.  Seemed like a setup for a spinoff or another season and didn't like it. It did offer Ellie a view of another direction in life, but I felt it took up precious time in the season.
-Splitting up the party for most of the season. Dart, Max, Lucas, Dustin were all separated from the group and then separated from each other. Mike was barely a part of this season. The kid's interactions with each other were minimum outside of the first scene of the first episode.

Liked it overall. I did binge it. Felt like it needed more time though or to cut out some of the extra story that it tossed in that lead nowhere so that the ending didn't feel like a convenient reunion.

Without Eleven, Mike is pretty useless. They try to pair him off with Will, but Will is usually around his mom and Hopper  both of whom get more time with Will. Even Eleven didn't get much time with the main group. I think she only shared one scene with all of them when she saves them. They kept her away from them for too long, which I can understand because she's so powerful and she'd be able to solve most of their problems easily.

Etiolate how did you feel about Max's brother jamming out to the Four Horseman and having Kill Em All as a poster in his room when Metallica didn't much notice till MoP?

Sure, dude's from Cali. Still a stretch.

It didn't fit for me. The brother was a very shallow hair metal character trying to impress chicks. Kill Em All doesn't exactly fit. He was the weakest character by far and only served as a foil to Steve. Even his dad being a hardass didn't redeem him in any way, because his dad was ultimately right. Nobody likes the guy who rubs cologne on his nuts.

Basically that early thrash was not chill with MTV stuff. So it just looked like a lazy stereotype of 80s metal.

Not a mistake, but Whispers to a Scream was early alternative rock but that genre probably wasn't as popular in 84 as New Wave or punk. However, I looked it up and it was a US/Can hit for that album and it was non-diegetic so it still works.

Never thought I'd say this but I'm not feeling the new ST season. S1 was so fucking good, but this just doesn't do it for me. 3 episodes in and find myself unable to pay attention. I feel like the bathroom scene in last episode of Season 1 was a great ending because it really gave off that Goosebumps vibe, but I don't understand why season 2 is following the same kids and the same story.

Well I like that it's the same kids, but they don't put them together in s2.

They could do a new story that had the same vibe with a new cast, but they got pretty lucky with the quality of the kid actors they had for season 1. Might be scared of whiffing on a new casting.

It might be different on here, but the parts I liked about Reloaded have always been the stuff other people seem to always hate. The Merovingian and The Architect. And the related world building episodes in The Animatrix.

The latter two movies had really shitty pacing at a level that makes Nolan's Batman films look well paced. They also do a really bad job of explaining why Agent Smith is such a problem and why the solution/agreement to stop him is accepted.

Then again I never gave a shit about Neo or Zion or any of them, the programs were more interesting. :lol

To make a semi-funny point only because I'm thinking about it from that tweet shared in the outside link thread making a joke about it, the whole "redpill" movement thing doesn't really seem to take into account The Architect's entire explanation of how the "choice" is intentionally planted by the machines as a form of control and how they recreate it every time. Though I'm sure there's a five hundred page explanation somewhere I could read about it, or a two hour video to watch.
