one of the worst scenes of all-time is when they're driving up to wherever and ''surface of the sun'' starts playing.

I don't even know what happened in that scene where their radiator broke or something yet they were driving again in like 2 minutes.

It's shot in the same building but it's really not the same vibe at all. For one thing it's not serious.

RE: Walking Dead

I've read all the comics up until a few months ago but I've had the episodes just sitting around. Not to be one of those guys but I don't know if the show can do it justice and survive as a show. Stray Bullets would probably be an easier comic to adapt.

Finished up The Walking Dead. Thought it was mostly good. Never read the graphic novels so I have no basis of comparison or expectations. As just a television show though compared to other television shows on the medium I thought it was fine. Actually quite good.

I'll try Game of Thrones (which I've also never read) and True Blood Season 3 next.

While its a bit gimmicky the first 25 or 26 episodes I think are quite entertaining. The last 13 or so are complete shit imo and almost ruin the first 26 so I just pretend they don't exist. Kind of like the Matrix movies.

I thought that was the perfect ending. Everything that came after that was either re-hash or just a bad idea.

True Blood in Season 3 is getting a bit too much Twilight-ish.

The Bill and Sookie relationship stuff is tiring and annoying because its the same shit. The other thing that tickles me about True Blood is how they treat Ana Paquin's character like she is the hottest chick in the world when truly she is kinda average looking. Average face. Decent to good body. But every character acts like she is the hottest thing on the planet.

I've been watching this UK show, Extreme Dreams.  The quite nice host takes about five people on an extreme trek up a mountain or somewhere and sees who makes it.

After that fucking goose Bear Gryllis, it's hard to believe there's a UK adventure man who isn't a complete moron.  I keep expecting the host to turn around and rip a poor snake in half or drink his own piss.

Finished watching True Blood Season 3. Didn't care for it too much. THere were a number of scenes and sub-plots I just fast forwarded through which is never a good sign. The show is just becoming too much. Every single character seems like they are some mythic or magical creature now.

Been watching The Killing also. Once again I think my expectations were lower than most of the people in this thread because I remember this getting a lot of flack when it aired in this thread. I'm about two episodes from finishing it and I've enjoyed it. Now without its flaws. I'll mention my issues when I finish it but overall I liked it compared to most TV fare. I think the red head lead in particular has done a really great job. It helps that I also find her amazingly attractive. She looks like someone you might see in real life which is always a lot more attractive to me.

I don't quite understand how you do multiples seasons of this though. This seems like a mini-series. Not a regular TV show. I could see it getting very annoying if this lasted for a few seasons

My problem with The Killing is that it goes from interesting drama to standard network CSI fare in a heartbeat. If I wanted CSI I'd watch CSI.

The Killing is well acted but just goes off the deep in toward the end. Very sad, as it started out great. Eventually the side plots (especially the victim's mother, jesus) become beyond tiresome. Plus all the red herrings..

I'm two episodes from finishing and maybe it will suddenly turn into CSI in those two episodes (I'll be honest and admit I think they've left too much for the final two episodes) but so far it hasn't been anything like CSI. It focuses on the people as much as the actual crime which is nothing like CSI. That being said it is a detective/murder story so I do expect some actual police work to enter into the equation. I guess I'm not really sure what you mean by it goes CSI. At least at this stage. My complaints so far have nothing to do with that element or aspect of the show.

The Killing is well acted but just goes off the deep in toward the end.

This seems more feasible. I could easily see them fucking up the ending after waiting so long to actually get to the real deal. I mean I enjoyed it but I kept watching each episode thinking, man they really do need to eventually get to the real killer. And episodes just kept going by.

the killing in retrospect pretty much sucked because it was nothing but week after week of red herrings and straight stupid fake police work. also for a show that plastered Rose Larsen's face all over the advertising she pretty much doesnt exist in the show. some perspective into who she was before she died may have improved things.

To be fair, Rosie comes back into focus toward the end, but getting to that point you're right-  it's easy to forget she exists as the show focuses on her mother, Larson's kid, the politician, etc.

Really interested to get Stoney's thoughts on the finale

I always laugh when people defend The Killing by sayings its not meant to be spoon feeding the viewer. That actually requires some sort of substance being placed on a spoon and into the viewers mouth. Its a weird phenomena but the pseudo intellectuals seem to be championing the complete lack of information and substance as something that needs to be worked out internally, in the viewer. Oook. I was hoping this show would be angled towards the cop aspect. There's only so much political intrigue and mourning family I can take, at some point you just wanna' get on with it.

I really liked The Killing and what it did. There were only two or three red herrings. Unlike most, I really liked the lengths they went to see the various people and areas that change because of a murder and how it becomes a "thing" to use. Overall, I just like that the show forces people to read/view in different ways.

I have a feeling you guys are gonna kill me, buuut I didn't think Breaking Bad's S4 debut was that good...

spoilerz
spoiler (click to show/hide)
It was a decent ep but had a weird, trivial atmosphere. Also while THAT scene was great, it was telegraphed. I felt Gus should have killed Vincent and Jesse, logically. He had no way of knowing whether Jesse was seen, and considering Jesse fucks everything up it would have been a good assumption that he botched it somehow; I'm also assuming Vincent told Gus that Jesse, being the fucktard he is, killed Gale and sat outside the apartment in his fucking car with the murder weapon. Such a dangerous situation would require Gus do whatever he could to distance himself from everyone involved.

As such a cautious man, it also made little sense for Gus to kill the guy himself. Seemed more like a writing decision to deliver a big "holy shit" moment to an otherwise stale episode. I shouldn't be nit picking Breaking Bad about realism, but it just rubbed me as an out-of-character moment. People on GAF are arguing Gus needed to show everyone what he was capable of, but I tend to think the dude's an international drug dealer and has nothing to prove; they know he can kill them and their families at the drop of a dime if they fuck up.

Breaking Bad premier: Eh. Much of it played out like a fanfic. Distractingly self-indulgent. I'm pretty disappointed. I did enjoy Skylar's condo break-in

Curb and Louie have both been good to great, as usual. There was also a subplot in the last episode of Curb that I swear was lifted straight from a post here about being asked by a stranger to watch their laptop

edit: F U PD I was gonna be the first one to pooh-pooh Breaking Bad. Had to finish Curb first

I watched the final two episodes of The Killing. Himuro and PD were right. Those two episodes are shit. Which is really unfortunate.  :-\

It's like eating a very nice meal at a restaurant and then they bring out a shit pie for dessert and it sorts of ruins the whole experience. I enjoyed 9 or 10 episodes but those last two really invalidate a lot of the good will that I had formed.

The thing is I've seen worse in shows that I like. I always liked 24 for example and that show was full of horseshit but that show always knew what it was and didn't pretend to be something it wasn't. The Killing for nearly all of its run shows that its interested in a much broader range of issues and topics but at the end it just says fuck it and goes for a twist bullshit ending and just sloppy and hokey work in those last two episodes and makes all that hard work seem pointless. It's worse when a show like this flubs it because it has/had higher ambitions than something like 24.

I haven't been so disappointed in a finale in quite a long time. I'll watch season two but its hard to take it seriously and get myself invested if that's the kind of crap they want to pull. That finale felt like something out of Prison Break.

Started Game of Thrones last night.  What's her face is so fucking hot.  And I have a new favorite phrase that I'm going to use on my wife one day "I'd let 40,000 men and their horses fuck you if I could get my kingdom back." or something like that.  Opening scene is super badass
