Fishing tourney sucks.

Max you can really get each time is 8-10 fish if you have bait and get lucky. Which gives you 10-12 points. So you'd need 25+ attempts. Need 300pts for gold trophy. What a time sink :kobeyuck

Cherry blossoms are ending and I'm missing two DIY recipes still: the umbrella and the petal pile.

Not too torn up about it but still kinda sucks.

Yeah CJ keeps them in a cooler and you can sell all or keep some if you want.

Got about 30 points and got a fish bag and a cooler.

Must be relying on a lot of goodwill, lots of posts where it was appreciated but not required or the requirements were vague ("cool furniture"). Seems cubersome to remove someone who isn't cooperating anyways

Getting enough points after every round for some pretty nice swag helps dole out the serotonin along the way. Don't know how many items there are though for that to last.

5k-15k bells per cooler load is alright too I guess.

So apparently if you do co-op you get 5 bonus points per round if you both catch a combined 5+ fish.

So even if we each only caught 3 fish we'd still get 3pts + 2pts + 5pts = 10pts each  :o

Fish with friends! Invite other players over to your town and you'll be able to fish cooperatively during the tournament. All points earned across all players are shared during each attempt, and players can then earn swag individually. Plus, having another friend over will give you a +5 co-op bonus on top of the +2 point bonus for catching at least 3 fish!

Spence want to have me over in an hour? :P

I'm actually low on water eggs, so maybe toss em on the beach or something? If you'd like. :)

Worst part of bunny day for me isn't the eggs, but it taking over 80% of villager conversations.

"Hey! Have you heard of BUNNY DAY? That shit is OFF THE HOOK! This is only the 58th time I've brought it up over the last two weeks."

Had a pretty successful fishing tournament today. Judging by the list HardcoreRetro posted I managed to get most of the items. I thought I would use the tourney today to grind out the Blue Marlin and Tuna since as far as I know those are the only two fish leaving the end of April. It kind of sucked talking to CJ and then having to run down to the pier because I lost several precious fishing seconds. Managed to get both fish though, so that tank in the aquarium doesn’t look so empty now. Wish I had known about that multiplayer bonus, I would have tried to track one of you guys down to get a gold trophy.

Gonna try to get a snapping turtle in a few hours, what size shadow do I look for?

Remember when New Leaf had love and attention put into the fishing tournament?

Remember when there was a dedicated scripted event with a podium and fanfare for who actually won?

Remember when it felt like fucking Animal Crossing? Fishing at your leisure throughout the day is 1000% more AC than some three minute bullshit.

Remember when if you missed it, it basically happened every winter month anyways? Not once a quarter so fuck you if you miss it?

Remember when the fishing tournament was fun?

I'm now reminded why I haven't been playing as much recently.

My pockets are always full. My house storage is always full. So far there appear to be no dressers for more storage. It's so tedious to me. I constantly have to empty my pockets and crap. So I don't buy anything and I don't bother digging for anything so I've stopped having fun. Then there's the fact you have to have tools on you constantly which takes up 5-6 spaces plus crap for crafting which means you'll always have at least 10-11 spaces full of required crap. Between making citizen satisfaction into a grind, the crappy egg event, and tbh I'm just not finding it fun anymore.

Lack of storage space took a lot of the winds out for me since I like having color variations of a lot of the Able Sisters' stuff. Biggest reason I wanted to pay off my loan, in all the other games storage isn't tied to house size so I was OK with taking a year+ to pay off my house. It took me 13 months for New Leaf IIRC, but I couldn't stand having less storage in this game.

Honestly storage should be a separate upgradeable thing, maybe even still tied to your house, but have it be something Nook can change like the roofing and paint.

I will say, it seems like players do get to a point where it's less of an issue. Fully upgrading the house, or even just getting the second floor (800 spots), is a huge help, and once you have enough bridges/ramps you can sock those tools away. I've also been considering storing more of my crafting materials since I just don't use them often enough anymore.

ACNL only had 16 inventory slots total, so I'm pretty happy with that aspect of NH (even with tools and crafting materials I have about 24 free slots), and things even stack much better in NH, it's just house storage that needs rebalancing/reworking.
