Was there even an interest rate to begin with? Didnt even notice.

Yeah. I'm guessing they took compound interest away, with time traveling that's an easy way to scoop bells. Not sure it's even worth it to patch and not sure I like this direction of Nintendo trying to force players to play their way, but this one at least seems minorly reasonably...

Small spike. I have the worst luck. My next three prices have a max of 217 but, yeah, really fucking sucks to go from 95% Chance to 0% and I’m pretty bummed on this

Yeah, Redd was posted up by Leif first thing in the morning but now I've bought the painting from him he's just wandering around the island.

Doesn't look like I'll be getting on his boat today unless something changes

Spent 45 mins redownloading Pocket Camp and doing some stupid flower tutorial :snoop

On a positive note, the Pocket Camp DLC items for New Horizons are (re-)orderable through Nook Shopping, not Nook Miles like I thought, so if we do a catalog party or whatever you guys will be able to order them without having to suffer as I've suffered. :P

Edit- Actually catalog party might not work, it's treated as actual DLC for the game (probably unlock codes, but still) and unlocks a new "Promotion" tab in Nook Shopping. :thinking

Spent all my remaining savings on the two crown items... had to sell one to buy the other too. But fulfills a dream I've failed to attain since Wild World like 14 years ago. :D

Will need to play Stonks next week so I can rebuy the crown I sold. :3

I didn't think I'd have further large expenditures, but some of these daily Nook items are going for 400-500k, not to mention I've seen people ITT say Redd's art is fucking expensive too. Seems like I may have to play the the stalk market more regularly than I thought.

This game is so weird as an outsider. I don’t get it at all.

A character on Sunday sells you a kind of "fruit" called turnips at a fixed price. You then sell these anytime over the next week (before next Sunday, or they'll spoil.) The sell price at Nook's varies twice per day (AM and PM), and also varies between islands. It's possible to make millions of Bells (currency) in profit if your investment is large enough. Most people invest 100-200k in bells every week I think.

The crown look's like Princess Peach's crown and goes for 1 mil. The "royal crown" looks like the king piece in chess and goes for 1.2 mil.

Edit- I've had the upgraded Nook's for two days; yesterday an iron/modern kitchenette with range was 400k Bells, and today there was a sakura blossom screen for 500k bells. Honestly they're really cool items but don't seem worth nearly that much.

WOW I remembered wrong. Don't do drugs kids! (Or do, I don't care.)

Here's what they look like in my catalog:

Not sure if the kitchen is customizable; the screen is not. The "plum" designation makes me think you have to buy other versions separately. :-\

Sorry for the hyperbole, I legit remembered them being that expensive... Or rather having to run to the ADB to buy them... must have tricked my brain. :P

Still, point is I'll be needing to play turnips on the reg, just small scale. Honestly that's fine, it felt a bit empty this week not needing to check twice a day (though it worked out with Nook's upgrading!)

So the entire point of the npc selling turnips is so you can buy them and re-sell them at a different time or to people from other islands at a re-sell profit.

And then the people who buy them from your island go and re-sell them to npcs or other players are their re-sell profit?

This game is fucking weird. This is the kind of system I'd expect from a Suda51 game.

Haha.

You basically have it, only thing to note is that you'll usually buy turnips on your own island. There's a slight benefit seeking out the best buy price from your friends, but it's negligible compared to the potential profits of selling.

But yeah, buy low, sell high, it's the stock market just with... turnip stalks.

I suppose in 2020 it does seem like an odd system... The way it works is kind of a by-product of (online) multiplayer being added to the series in Wild World. I suppose in the original GameCube game you could do the two-memory-card thing, but oh man what a pain... I doubt anyone did that for turnips, or if they did, only for 1 or 2 times. :lol

It's honestly not too different a system from how non-native fruit sells for 5x the price. The price just varies day by day instead, and you can only get it from an NPC instead of trees.

Yeah, spent a bunch of time with the construction app. Mostly done with the things I wanted to do with the island though. Not doing a lot of big changes as I want to keep it as natural as possible.

Still gotta save money for the one big change I want. Turning the museum into the eye-catcher on the island.
