Actually Will.I.Am is pretty talented, and plays multiple instruments. That doesn't mean he makes good music though.

He knows how to write hooks; kinda hard to deny that. I Got a Feeling is fucking catchy. That being said, most of the BEP stuff is atrocious and their sole purpose is to write singles; they've even admitted they aren't artists, they're "hit makers."

I'm not a fan of the Black Eyed Peas but lets not kid ourselves. There is nothing wrong with attempting to create "hit" songs and that is what 99% of music industry "artists" are trying to do and have always tried to do. The fact that they are more honest about it than the rest is something to be celebrated rather than mocked imo.

I find it telling that they have no artistic ambitions or creative interests, and it comes across in their music. They're the definition of shallow music and music making and certainly nothing about that should be celebrated. And while I don't take the Grammys seriously, they kind of reached a new low by nominating their album as aoty

I'm not going to pull the "they used to be good card" because I don't want to sound too pretentious (and honestly, I wasn't into their early backpacker stuff that much).
