It's more succinct to say that the resetera users arguing against her employment were sympathizing with the harassers. They contribute to the harassment by way of endorsement, just like the Kingdom Come guy, etc. Unless they say "hey lets go harass this person on twitter" it's impossible to claim they are directly responsible for harassment, but they definitely encourage those who would.

If the person doing it had read thebore it's hard to claim we wouldn't have influenced that person's decision to do so. Clearly we wouldn't sympathise because that's some edge-lord shit, however in the case of this museum staffer for many people it became a "moral issue", and seeing members of resetera argue that her appointment constituted racial insensitivity would certainly have influenced the desire of potential harassers to harass her and the museum, yes.
