Dear god at Dexter. I've never seen a show wheeze and sputter to the finish line like this. It's almost funny just how little fucks the writers give at this point.

honestly it's almost stunning, even after the massive drop off in quality from the first few few seasons. I thought this season had a chance of being decent simply because it seemed logical that having an end date would remedy a lot of its longstanding problems. like how could they fuck it up when there are legit high stakes for the first time in years, right? but nope, shitty as ever. sooo much squandered potential. I stopped watching weeks ago. haven't been this annoyed with a TV show since LOST.

seriously, look at this shit.

:lol

this is totally Showtime's MO, though, so it's my own fuckin fault for sticking with it.

I wonder if Michael C. Hall has any regrets. I swear there are times when Dexter does or says something particularly stupid (like I-can't-believe-this-fucking-writing stupid) where his real persona shines through onscreen and he just looks and sounds so exasperated. probably wishes he was still on SFU making out with sexy ass Keith mmmm.

To be fair in retrospect the first few seasons weren't even that great. The first two worked as they had a strong general narrative, but they weren't particularly amazing beyond that. They do however look like absolute masterpieces compared to the current car crash abortion the show is.

I think the hardest part is watching Charlotte Rampling in it. You can tell she signed on with the intention of just phoning it in for an easy pay-day.

I haven't watched since season 3. I will catch up at some point. Honestly I think it was inevitable though. That's just not a premise that you can keep extending as long as its run.

I disagree.  Whatever potential greatness the show had hinged entirely on whether the writers' were willing to present Dexter as a genuinely ambiguous character.  Instead the show has done nothing but lionize the man while surrounding him with a cardboard cast of idiots that are impossible to look bad next to.  You're clearly just meant to root for Dexter from the word go, and that in itself squanders the shows premise irreparably.

The visual effects and some of the voice-acting are also missing (ie: a regular parking lot is shown rather than a huge bomb crater). It was an okay episode but the season starts out very slow.

Sunny and League were both great last night. The ending to Sunny was pretty fucking good and League was just an all around solid episode. Andre was in top form and it was nice to finally see one of the other previously unseen members of the league (Adam Brody did a pretty good job).

Anyone else watching Siberia? I hate reality shows, and the first episode was pretty humdrum. But there was enough foreshadowing of sinister events to come that I decided to keep watching, and I'm glad I did because each new episode has been better than the last. It's a pretty cheesy show, but all the gruesome fates befalling the contestants has been pretty entertaining.

Just finished this; it's only 3 one-hour episodes, self-encapsulated, and very good.

I'd heard In the Flesh called "the thinking man's The Walking Dead," and that's pretty accurate. As much as I like TWD comic, the TV show leaves me cold due to its unrealistic human interactions and nonsensical decision making. This show uses zombies and the zomb-pocalypse as an allegory for... well, any number of othered groups, but most specifically and topically about homosexuality.

The second season of AHS wasn't bad, but it didn't really pay off in any way. The coven shit looks hot though.

New season of Sons of Anarchy is a lot darker than I thought it would be. I wonder if that's meant to be a reference to sandy hook?

Bros I just watched the first episode of American Horror Story. And I'm conflicted...

It felt like an adult Goosebumps, sometimes in a good way...sometimes in a bad way. Some stuff was just pure camp, like the daughter getting beat up at school or some of the fake scares/music. The basement scene towards the end...dunno.

Naturally my favorite part was the peeping tom/masturbate scene :dead

but yea...does the show get better?

Yes, but there is tons of campiness. That kind of comes along with most things horror. It also helps to marathon the show so the mood and atmosphere can build up, and not give your brain a chance thing about how silly things like ghosts are.

I'm watching Farscape. The last time I watched these was the original DVDs released through ADV, and I was recovering from general anesthesia, so it's all NEW AGAIN to me. Amazon had the Blu-Ray set on massive sale last year,  but the first eps don't really take advantage of the format. They're good and clear, but they weren't shot for HD or wide-aspect-ratio. The CG doesn't really hold up, but it's not as bad as I'd feared. Everything else is a lot of fun.

I'm always down for moar Claudia Black and Virginia Hey. Actually, I'm wishing the damned thing was made for HBO, so we could get some actual nudity.

anyone catch the new arsenio?

Wait, so AHS is Arsenio Hall Show?

the show gets crazier
first season is amazing it just keeps going more and more over the top
it loses steam about 3/4ths of the way through but rights itself for the ending push
very good gothic thrill ride

Watched the Ice Cube / Lisa Kudrow episode of Arsenio Hall and it wasn't...terrible.  The audience was all people in their 40s which I guess is right as Arsenio is no longer a young man

Watched the first episode of Ricky Gervais's new show Derek since that popped up on Netflix Instant today. It was pretty good, had some funny parts to it and a superbly acted final scene. Kinda expected that it would be sad, too, given the setting, and I wasn't wrong about that.

premiering tonight on bb3

Tonight on BBC Three is the premier of Teen Exorcists, in which Brynne Larson and Tess and Savannah Scherkenback, teenage girls from Arizona who happen to be exorcists just like Brynne's dad, visit the UK! I bet they were a huge hit there. After all, Harry Potter author JK Rowling is British and, as Tess Scherkenback says, "The spells and things that you're reading in the Harry Potter books, those aren't just something that are made up, those are actual spells. Those are things that came from witchcraft books."

You need to marathon it.  The show's pacing is much better when you do it a few hours at a time.
