Finished House of Cards season 2

felt the end-game was a bit predictable but the storyline thread was better told and easier to follow. pretty good overall.

Watched the Veronica Mars movie. It's okay. Especially if you want a sort of by the books movie of the show. I wish it was more a real movie with the ambitions of a real movie rather than a two part TV episode but honestly that is probably expecting too much. It's solid enough for what it is. I wish it took more chances but that's not most likely what the fan base wanted who kickstarted it in the first place.

(I would have liked to have seen some consequences of her shitting all over Piz since the show was normally pretty good about balancing out the ledger on those kind of things but that's the way they decided to go with it. Unfortunately it also gives it a shitty Twilight vibe)

A lot of the criticism seems more like a negative reaction to the positive reactions the show has generated. I noticed Rosenberg did this rather blatantly with the tracking shot episode, where her article's title was something like "Why That Shot in True Detective Was Overrated." The article had little to say about the harrowing nature of the scene or the impressive technical feats involved, and instead focused on something else entirely (a white guilt trip over black gangstas in the scene). It was like "everyone says this scene is awesome but here's a reason why it's not, based entirely on my own insecurities."

Reminds me of when a universally acclaimed album comes out and there's always someone who writes an "Why X isn't that good." The article often tends to note that yea the album is good, but it's not nearly as good as everyone else is saying *wrings hands*

Yeah, and it's apparently pretty expensive.

It's in that limbo where it's not officially not renewed, but everything else on FOX has either been renewed, is Family Guy or there's no way in hell it (Rake, Dads) gets renewed.

I'd been enjoying a bunch of BBC network stuff recently, so I blindly bought Paradox, based on that, and the premise: a genius physicist contacts the police with photographic evidence of an incident which appears to take place 18 hours in the future.

Unfortunately, the first episode dealt more with people ignoring facts that they had already established, and a good deal of back and forth of meaningless screaming at each other, and in some points the dialog doesn't make sense and it felt like the actors also didn't know why they were reading those lines.

So, yeah, not an awesome start.

Give it another episode or two or just switch to watching ENLIGHTENED. But I would also watch the latter while a little high, to mellow out, and let the flow of the show run through you

Rome becomes great after a few episodes and the first season has an amazing finale. The series begins to fall apart in S2 when it becomes clear the writers were rushing; the show was cancelled which forced some unexpected changes.

HBO has admitted they made a mistake by canceling it, since DVD sales were so high; at the time they didn't take them into account which is utterly ridiculous.

I was really hoping season 2 of True Detective would have nothing to do with Louisiana or the two leads in season 1. It seems to me, that their story is over and done with. What else is there to tell? I was hoping the next season would star an all new cast in a totally different location. Like LA or NYC.

Seinfeld starts a bit slow in seasons 1 and 2 but around 3 it gets really good, and by 4 it's just gold and stays like for pretty much the rest of its run. Highly suggested.
