Their next album, Hell on Earth, is good; haven't heard their other stuff. It's not as good as The Infamous but it has similar grimy as fuck production and rhymes

a 41 song 2.5 hour debut album and so far, it's almost all worth hearing.

The first four tracks aren't that great, but by the time 7000 Thoughts hit, I was willing to go to the end in one fell swoop. unfortunately, work is getting in the way

Lupe's album leaked today. Haven't heard it yet, but the universal consensus (well, at least on GAF and SOHH) is that it's a compromised pos. Atlantic got their way, filling it with hook driven pop songs with verses sowed in.

My rap aoty so far. While I liked his last album I thought his rapid fire flow lead to some rather aimless lyrics; seems like a lot of fast rappers kinda waste bars. Here he's refined his flow and lyrics to great effect. Production it's a who's who of boom bap masters. Premier, Pete Rock, Nottz, Statik...damn.

Raekwon - Shaolin vs Wu Tang

Raekwon's career revival continues. This is the best he's sounded since Wu Forever imo. Some rather average production trips him up some, but overall it's solid. Hopefully the success he's seeing will light a spark in RZA, who's presence isn't missed here.

Apollo Brown - Clouds

Dope instrumental from Detroit producer Apollo Brown (The Left). Very chill album with some nice samples. Most of his rap production revolves around soul samples but here there's a variety of sounds.

Action Bronson's album came out and while it reminds me a lot of Ghostface with the delivery, the topics are way different. No attempts to be gangsta or do coke rap. He talks a lot about food and if you see the guy you'll know why, he's total Demi bait.

I also just found out about Open Mike Eagle thanks to Hellfyre Club's Prometheus Mix.

Gibbs' flow and mic presence are impressive, but he's suffered from a lack of good production over the years. Selektah fixes that by providing a handful of tracks for Gibbs to go crazy over.

No, he's not a great rapper. He's not a good rapper tbh. But I respect the Based God for creating an inventive gimmick and running with it, plus some of his more ridiculous rhymes/songs are beyond entertaining. Yet this album features none of the swag rap he's popularized. Instead it's a pretty serious, introspective album meant to prove his doubters wrong. Some great production carries many songs

Kendrick Lamar - Section80

I thought Detroit had a great year in 2010, but Cali is completely dominating hip hop this year. I'm not as high on Lamar as many other folks, but this album has some awesome shit on it.
