(Image removed from quote.) at people talking up this Logic album.

I can feel the banality of his very person coming off every verse.

Like yall already got Kendrick, why do you want a pale ( :hitler) imitation of him?

The dude can rap competently enough but there's not an original thing about that album. At all.

You haven't seen The Warriors until you've heard Killer Mike and El-P talk mad shit throughout the whole thing.

We got a tin full of popcorn, Blockbuster Night Part 1 b/w Instrumental version 7", a large sticker and some smaller stickers.  And Nas showed up and previewed a new song (over a Dilla beat).  It was like less than 30 people there.

Nas over horns and drums. :obama

I remember reading Dilla made some beats with Nas in mind, similar to how he specifically made beats for Ghostface (that ended up on Donuts).

I'm not entirely sure where I stand on him these days.

El-P isn't outright wack now but the last time I was really into him rapping was I'll Sleep When You're Dead in 2007. For some reason, I just cannot get into Cancer 4 Cure no matter how many times I try to listen.

I can't say he fell off production-wise because RAP Music was excellent but both RTJ albums are good for a single listen and thats about it.

Maybe I can't accept the fact that CoFlow/Def Jux eras are gone.  :-\

Someone tried to kill Freddie Gibbs outside the club last night

http://nypost.com/2014/11/04/rapper-post-shooting-they-tried-to-kill-tupac-they-tried-to-kill-me/

Quote
Two people were shot in a trendy section of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, early Tuesday, in what was purportedly a rap beef.

Hip Hop star Freddie Gibbs, who just performed at a record store called Rough Trade, claimed he was the intended target when shots were fired while he was sitting in a black GMC Denali at North 9th Street near Wythe Avenue.

“They tried to kill Tupac. They tried to kill me,” Gibbs told The Post outside the club. “I’m still alive.”

A law enforcement source said a single gunman stalked the victims, who are believed to be two members of Gibbs’ entourage, and opened fire at 1:13 a.m.

One victim was hit in the leg attack, and the other in the had. Neither were seriously wounded, police said.

After the bullets flew, Gibbs ducked into Rough Trade for cover, he said.

Both victims were transported to Bellevue Hospital and listed in stable condition. Police did not identify the victims.

There are no arrests in the shooting.

Looking like a 90s R&B video. The ones that tried to sell you on some modern era of jazz clubs where everyone is #teamnatural, you're not allowed to button your shirt up all the way, and there is zero air conditioning.

They're so boring Premo couldn't even create a dope chorus with their vocals DJ'd up. That's how you know you're wack. Even the wackest groups got dope choruses from Premo...

(dope song but that album was weak)

The beats for can ox are dope, but the instrumentals are kinda underwhelming without the vocals imo. Half the appeal of El's early production to me is how he mixed the vocals.

Sidenote: I love RTJ, and it's pretty clear that these dudes can convene on a sonic level that connects with a much broader audience than either of them can individually. That said, I'm a little bummed that there isn't going to be anything as direct as the Pledge tapes from Killer Mike for the time being. I loved that series and I really think if there's any rapper that can carry the early 90's Ice Cube torch, it's Mike.

Yea, Iron Galaxy is the perfect example of that. El-P laced the vocals perfectly over the beat, which sounds rather bleh as an instrumental.

I'll cop to enjoying Shmurda unironically and not really being tired of him. Total brain off, four drinks in music. And opened the door for one of the dopest remixes of the year. That remix is permanent whip material.

FYI Alpha Pup started a new weekly in LA @ Shortstop in Echo Park/Silverlake. Going Up Tuesdays, rotating residents but it looks like DJ Nobody and Daddy Kev are going to be regular.

Yo brehs, before you jump on me...... Just hear me out.

I'm kinda feeling this white ymcmb rapper Caskey. He's good. It's like Jesse Pinkman rap. He's like Yelawolf with that trash look but has kind of a street and self awareness of a kendrick or drake.... And the neuroticism of Eminem. I think he's got potential. And he picks good beats.
