i really don't think jays creative method makes that line any less shitty, and you are definitely stretching if "baptize a brick" qualifies as 'religious content'

Anyway that's the last of me being a crank, if people are feeling it then get your joy, I wish it did the same for me

The fact that he uses that meme after the Job lines makes it even more clear it's deliberate. Job? Daniel?

drug women and get caught on camera dragging them to your hotel brehs

And I thought Gibbs was going in the right direction. Released a good album, was actually doing a state-wide tour (which suggests he repaired some of the bridges he burnt), had another Madlib project on the way. Not to mention having a daughter and wife.

All that is over now, assuming he gets found guilty.

Can't find it now but the report is that he drugged two women at a club with an anesthetic, then him and his security brought them to a hotel and raped them. The hotel cameras have footage of them in the halls. It's not clear whether the girls look visibly drugged on the video or not. Obviously them walking to the room without aide doesn't mean they weren't raped, but it would likely help his lawyer's case.

We gonna talk about how with that track Danny perfectly blended the two sounds he attempted to separate on Old (Side A/B). That sounds like some dark XXX style mixed with a warped take on edm.

I always thought that lean was a weird culprit for the rash of rap seizures since I don't think I've ever heard of smack addicts getting seizures as a result of opiate abuse, benzo withdrawal does make more sense. Guess Wayne and Ross have more in common with Stevie Nicks than just making monster jams.
Also lol@ the hysterical last two paragraphs of that haha, reddit is so weird

YG's album is basically what I've wanted Jay Rock to do. Very little gangsta postering, lots of dark paranoid shit, some street consciousness, lots of west coast shit. Throw in some Alchemist beats and we'd be set.

DS2
Regulate... G Funk Era
ATLiens
Vol. 2...Hard Knock Life
Capital Punishment
The Chronic
The Eminem Show, MMLP, and SSLP
channel ORANGE
MBDTF
GKMC
Illmatic
Life After Death

Funnily enough TLOP has two excellent tracks to start off as well

Honestly there are a million more, as I started my still-unfinished list I realized there should be a distinction for albums that start with 2 tracks that set the tone for the album as well...for example Life After Death or even The Eminem Show but now that I type that I realize you could make that argument for all of them

Also non-rap: OK Computer, Teen Dream,  ...And Justice for All,
spoiler (click to show/hide)
Futuresex/Lovesounds (best 6 track start ever???)
[close]

edit: guess I could cut the list down if we wanna stick with albums where the first track is a skit or not a full song, that leaves us with (again partial list only got halfway through my itunes lol):
spoiler (click to show/hide)
ATLiens
Capital Punishment
The Chronic
The Eminem Show, MMLP, and SSLP

edit 2: yea I'm a stan but those Eminem intros are still funny

I have no idea. And the crazy thing is that the answer seems so simple. That YG album is a perfect example of why the west is doing so well. They managed to incorporate southern trap with west coast sounds to create something that doesn't sound compromised or like dick riding. Yea you could say the west/g-funk and the south have always had a lot of similarities production wise so the west's current success in the face of Atlanta's reign shouldn't be stunning...but it's still impressive.

It seems to me that the obvious answer to NY's problem is to simply merge east coast hip hop staples with trap. Trade in the boom bap for 808s and dark samples, maybe find a way to do trap with break beats. Ratking/Sporting Life pretty much mastered an underground version of that on So It Goes. That album should be the blueprint: just mainstream the sound/make it more accessible.

TBH the root to all of these problems is that NY doesn't have a great producer right now, especially not one working with rappers who have some mainstream potential. Sporting Life is dope af but prob isn't going to call up Dave East and chop it up, for instance.

Pretty funny that 50's entire run has been forgotten by history. People still name drop Hov, Nas, Andre 3000, etc but you never really hear people giving 50 any props. He has a couple songs on the radio but no one really cares. Historically he's about as forgotten as Ja Rule is.
