Finished S5 of The Sopranos. Great season, much better than S4

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I didn't expect Tony to kill his cousin; I figured he'd have Paulie or someone do it. Finally a good move on his part; seemed almost weird seeing Tony make some decent decisions for once, not only with that but his talk with Chris.

Sucks I knew Adrianna would die thanks to spoilers. I know Chris dies too, smh, dunno how though.

I'm glad Nathan is bailing after Season 2. He really loses his place well into Season 2. What good is he?

I'm glad they slowly (well, what would take a whole season of an American show) made Simon the focus, the real leader behind the operation who takes the situation very seriously.

Simonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn my waifu

Also Kelly's tits are so good. Pull those motherfuckers out already

There's going to be a short episode to explain why Nathan isn't there and some new guy is.

full series 3 starts in october

I'm trying to watch Daybreak since I heard it's like Groundhog Day/Source Code in that it's a guy reliving the same day.  Well it is, and I like that stuff, but the show is pretty bad.  The big difference between it and those is any injury he receives done day carry into the next.   Main character figures this all out in the first episode after five minutes into day 2.  But he's so dull and dumb.  Every episode seems to have at least two or more scenes where he's explaining this shit to his girlfriend.

About halfway through season 2 of Justified. Still enjoying it; it's an improvement over season 1, but not hugely so. I like Boyd Crowder's character more than Rayland's sometimes. He's really conflicted, while Rayland is just... angry.

Breaking Bad has been amazing this season.

So I've been watching The Shield on megavideo, since I don't know anyone who has the dvds. You can only watch 72 minutes before you have to wait another 72. But I've found an awesome work-around using my rooted Android and a tethering app to get a different IP address for the 72 minutes of downtime. I've got effectively unlimited access to megavideo (and its low-res goodness), but I'm trying not to go overboard with this and piss off Verizon.

Screw that, use this
http://www.icefilms.info/

Just follow the directions on the front page (stream script and 1.5 dixv; remember never to update divx unless icestreams tells you too, since the updates will make the player not work)

then enjoy

I've enjoyed this season of Curb but I've missed the fact that there hasn't been really an over-arching plot. Normally the season has a narrative connection running through it and this season hasn't.

My favorite bit of the last episode btw is easily missable. Leon is walking down the street with Larry and they are talking about something and a man passes Leon and as a form of acknowledgement Leon briefly glances at the man and says white man in the same manner as if you would say what's up or hello. I had to rewind it to make sure and I died laughing.

Journeyman

I like this show.  Soap MacTavish is the lead.

edit:  also, Day Break got better as it went on.  Main character was still sometimes annoyingly dumb.

after Journeyman (which is great) I might continue with Early Edition.  Random shows about people knowing the future r fun.

Day Break and Journeyman are on Hulu.  Only annoyance of watching Journeyman on Hulu is "this% of Journeyman viewers like John Doe: 'I don't know things I'm supposed to do, but I do know things I'm not supposed to know'" everytime.

Finished Justified, season 2. Things went pretty much how I expected, but with more shooting. I am pretty sure I've got season 3 sussed as a "return to basics" (season 1), and it's not going to hold up. The characters were better developed this time around, so returning to antagonism between Raylan and Boyd will be make or break.

Journeyman was great. I was very sad when that was canned. Daybreak was less good but still enjoyable for me. Although the ending to daybreak is crazy rushed and forced but that was to be expected.

Just watched The Stone Tape before the Ravens game.  Holy fuck amazing.  It doesn't look like it's readily available.  But if you find it, go in as cold as possible.  I thought it was about something similar, but the idea of the film I had in my mind was radically different from what I got.  I'm watching The Woman in Black now as it's by the same writer (Nigel Kneale) and I'm curious about the remake (by the director of Eden Lake).

edit:  The Woman in Black was ok, but not that great.  ugh. the trailer for the remake.  always with the scratched out eyes?

Quatermass and the Pit is blowing my mind.  For what is essentially a cheap play, they manage to pack in a lot of very cool concepts and suspense, releasing pieces of info related to the central mystery at a very good pace.  Fuck, I should have watched this ages ago!

Watched the series finale for Entourage. Terrible. That last season was the worst one by far. I liked the show when it first began but much like Weeds, it lost itself the further it went along.

Didn't care for the curb finale either outside of some of the michael j fox stuff.

I thought this season of Curb was great in spite of some uncharacteristically sloppy/forced setups. I would agree it was a bit inconsistent, but it's still not degrading as rapidly as, say, Sunny. I like the whole Larry running wild thing they have going on now that Cheryl is out of the picture.

And was it just me or did Michael J. Fox look terrible? I mean I haven't seen him recently but MAN :-\

Yeah I figured it was out of order.  We watched it when it aired and the in built timeline for stuff made no sense.

I caught that episode and liked it.  Good show.  Can't wait for this coming season.

Watched Free Agents pilot and Up All Night pilot.  Up All Night was pretty damn solid as a pilot, Free Agents was not as good as the UK version.  The leads are very very solid right out of the gate, but the supporting cast was horrible.  Anthony Stewart Head was so much better as the horrifically filthy boss in the UK version.  Check that one out.
