My pet peeve is when people rag on old special effects or use that as an excuse not to legit watch something which I've seen people do before. I mean I can laugh at cheesy special effects in a mst3k kind of way myself. But you are in serious danger of missing the point completely if you don't understand that special effects are simply a device to help tell a story. Not the story.

Oddly, this is how I feel about graphics in games, and I was an art director at one time.

Does no one get Sundance Channel or something? I'm kind of shocked at how nonexistent this show is in the pop culture noosphere atm.

Or are people just not ready for a program that humanizes people sentenced to death?

(Especially ones for whom there is no possibility for idealization like Kerwin; I think of Mary Surrat in The Conspirator as the contra when I say this.)

Mostly column A, but a little of column B. When we live in a country that vehemently demonizes prison inmates and frequently robs them of the potential for atonement, it's hard to get people to empathize with characters like Daniel or Kerwin because more often than not we are just like the people of Paulie -- bloodthirsty, holding years-long grudges. It's powerful stuff when a show ties to up-end that ideology... tries to humanize a criminal.

Checking out Strike Back. I wonder how long it's gonna be for an alpha American male stud main character to be a gay cock-hound instead of a boring straight poon-hound. That trope is sooooo fuckin tired.

Edit: He does have a big dumb heart though  :(

Love Strike Back. One of the best action composition on TV, the best if we don't count martial arts since it excells and focuses on gun battles. Also Stonebridge x Scott chemistry just continues to grow as the show goes and. Gets even better. I also like how they stick to a formula of 2 episode arcs + the "main" arc that runs over the whole season. Nice format.

If you like 90s and 80s buddy action films Strike Back should be 100% up your alley.

I shouldn't say action hack. I love action films and a good deal of skills and craft is required. It's just that Lin is kind of a hack in terms of action films. Fast Five owned, and Six was pretty cool but the earlier two were straight trash.

Because of internet puss-bags.

Season 2 will live or die based on Pizzolatto's script and the actors they pick. Lin's a more than capable director, maybe he's interested in getting his art-on after cashing out on FF. Good for him.

I hope I'm wrong but I have a feeling s2 will be disappointing. I think the acting will likely be fine regardless of the cast but I'm less confident about the script. I'm smelling a flash in the pan situation, especially without other writers in the room to breath fresh air into the process.

So you get a short final season, and your decisions are to not only jump ahead seven years, eliminating one of the most interesting characters off-screen...but to also show an extensive flashback to a story we've already heard many times through dialogue? And there's at least two more episodes of these flashbacks? Jesus Christ. This is Godfather fanfiction.

Getting my Bruce Campell fix AND a Sam Raimi/Rob Tapert kinda-Xena fix with Jack of All Trades boxed set. I'm only a couple episodes in, but I haven't seen any of these since they initially aired, and I only was able to catch a couple of them anyway.

It's so much stupid fun. It's got the historical accuracy and paper-mache sets of Xena and Hercules, with the attitude of Army-of-Darkness-era Ash.

Obama is totally justified in bombing ISIS now:

"Dear Fans of Danger 5,
It is with our deepest disappointment and sadness that we announce a decision has been made to delay the broadcast of Danger 5 Series 2 on SBS. This is due to unforeseen international news events and the recent ISIS actions and it’s felt in the current climate the series might not be received in the comedic spirit in which it was created.
Unfortunately this delay is completely out of our control and the entire team at Danger 5 and Dinosaur are truly devastated.
At this stage we're unaware of when Series 2 will air, but as soon as we do, you will be the first to know.
We hope that you will stick by us until this time as we do everything we can to show you what has taken the entire team thousands of hours of hard work, sweat and a few tears.
So, in the interest of making the anticipation unbearable, we will share with you (TONIGHT at 7.30pm Thursday 11 September AEST) the Official Trailer for Danger 5 Series 2.
We will be back to kill Hitler once and for all.
Love, the D5 team"
