I'd be all over a Motorstorm game (that's not RC) on the Vita. First game was over rated to hell and back but the second game in particular was good solid fun (if a bit broken in the late stages)

I know, right?!   I'm thinking it might be some of my favorite hardware ever, with a nice and simple UI.

I think the UI is kinda endearing and whoever wanted a xmb interface on this thing is smoking the worse kind of shit imo.

The UI is not without faults though (why the hell are group messaging,  party, friends and trophies separate "apps"?)

Its so sad cause vita is so good, prob the best dedicated handheld ever going to be made.

Still I wouldnt buy one unless its like 99.

Fuckin Sony hit a homerun with the hardware no one cares about.

they're not totally blameless though.   i love BC and all, but they gotta actually announce stuff to get people excited.  it's not an apple product that just sells itself.   Get some hats, fill them with money.

What money though  :P

nintendo could contribute only games, hands off everything else.

Oh, I think they could improve on Sony's UI designs a bit too.  Not that Nintendo is particularly good at it, but Sony is awful at it.  That new PSN shop is somehow even worse than the previous one.

The loading of the store (especially that initial load) is pretty damn sluggish and the search is distinguished mentally-challenged.

Looks great though  :lol

It's interesting to see how they put almost every one of their console franchises on PSP (and even dusted off some old ones like Syphon Filter) but don't seem to be doing that for Vita (yet).

Automatic preprogrammed ninthing excuse process I'm trying to suppress says:

- New platform
- Install base
- Crap marketing for the previous Wii installments
- Came out earlier on PS360, diehards won't wait
- Install base

Seems like the action plan during the early psp days was to dust off some of the old big franchises from the ps1 era that weren't quite working out on PS2, then as time went on, bring more PS2 and even a few PS3 franchises on it.  Vita seemed to avoid this, relying more on PS3 IPs than anything else.

I finally took some time to really look over the last NPD numbers.  Man, the WiiU is a joke.  Like, as craptacular as the PS Vita big hitters did (and man did they do craptacular, weep for P4), they outsold almost everything on the WiiU.  The PS3 version of Blops 2 literally sold more than 100x the WiiU version.
P4>30k?

I'd love it if Sony and Nintendo were to produce a console together. Let Sony do the hardware. No Nintendo employees allowed when it comes to hardware architecture. NONE
Both make good games. The exclusives list would be amazing. Sony would also do the online structure.

The console would be great.

You wanna see Wii U go down in flames? Wait for the January one.

- ...install base?

i love the way the larger install base of the Vita is a reason to never develop a game for it ever
yet the install base of the WiiU is somehow some amazing reason to drop X360/PS3 versions and go WiiU exclusive

Time lines and all that appart - the Vita and WiiU are linked and given they are technically in about the same ball park i wonder if we might see Sony/Nintendo linking up on day and date 1-for-1 ports of shit quality games from TURD Parties? ;)

The Vita is having big problems and every Vita owner has long since accepted this - Nthings are still living in denial that, well, MARIO might have cut his cock off and thrown it in a dumbster , but it might possibly have legs and lets just wait for Zelda....

The Wii and DS were genius products - the Wii U and 3DS are prime examples of just thinking "well, we rolled a great 6 last time, what new* (* - not actually new) gimicks can we roll out this time?" - both products are misguided. The 3DS will survive on the back of Japanese sales whilst it wallows in a dumpster in the rest of the world, the WiiU though is fucked. I mean - a price cull and ambassadoring might help it but this would become a trend for nintendo and their company strategy of actively fucking their fanbase on costs would kill them in the financial market. "Oh wait, your fans aren't suckers anymore? SELL SELL SELL"

Wasn't the first year, and in particular the first few months after the launch [i.e. the holiday season], supposed to be the Wii U's best opportunity to carve out a foothold? If it's selling this bad NOW, just imagine how bad it's going to be once the new Xbox and Playstation come out. It's hard, if not impossible, to see the Wii U's current situation and future prospects as anything other than a huge misstep by Nintendo. I think they really overestimated just how much of the casual gamer audience was still interested in consoles [as opposed to smart phones and smart pads] and how many of the hardcore fans were still hanging around.

The Wii U's gonna drop like a sack of bricks starting in February.  In January, there is the possibility that somewhere out there, the Wii U was sold out and the people who weren't able to find one can get one.  Also I can't imagine word of mouth is particularly great.  February is the true test of staying power.

The Game Gear did fairly well but certainly was no threat to the GB at any time.  I'd argue no competitor really "got" portable gaming til the Wonderswan and Neo Pocket and by then Pokemon was out and nothing was going to get in its way.

As someone that owned a Game Gear back in the day I can def say it wasnt real competition. More like a cool novelty.

good lord, i have no idea what happened to that ipad post - let me try that again:

not at all - people expect Wii U to be part of the port scene NEXT gen and the x360/PS3 would not be part of that.  You can also go hunt for people saying that, as the most powerful machine now, Wii U should be the machine to use as a dev  base and everything other version should be ported down rather than ported up ... and then when next gen starts HUZZAH, the Wii U is a great point to port up from! looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooolotron

So - Nthings mindset : X360/PS3 should be down ported to from the Superior* Wii U ... until next gen starts and then we should up port from WiiU because NINTENDO!

I've never read on GAF that PS4/Durango stuff should be up ported from Wii U, just clinging (pathetically) to the hope that Wii U will get downports from them and not be FUBARd on third parties like the Wii was.

Wii U is screwed port wise.  Basically all the launch ports bombed hard (like PS3 launch level bombing) and even the original stuff didn't do too hot (Red Steel was a bigger seller than ZombiU).  I think in the west the system can look forward to Wii-like support from 3rd parties.  Japan might fare a little better, but pretty much anything that isn't 3DS there is kinda fucke long term.

Wii U was supposed to get ports from PS3/360 to gain momentum as a legitimate userbase for the next generation but looks like it isn't even doing that for 2013.  I'm pretty sure one of the big advantages of the 360 over the PS3 in the US initially was that it established itself as _the_ place for multiplatform games before the PS3 could get a good enough footing.  The Wii U isn't going to have that so it's going to be like the Wii but without the blue ocean backing.  In other words, it is fucked.

There is an argument over at GAF that Nintendo will somehow convince PS3/360 owners to buy mutliplatform ports on the WiiU instead of the HD twins. The lack of a universal achievement/trophy system will prevent that from happening. People love their cheevos and kinda like their trophies.

What ports?

It's a hypothetical argument, bro.

They're the multiplatform ports that the Wii U is suppose to be getting but isn't.

Why won't those lazy publishers learn?

They did learn and would rather be accused of being lazy instead of "fucking stupid."

It depends how much hardball Zavvi played with Nintendo tbh. From everything I have been hearing and from all retailers I have been speaking to, Nintendo are very very desperate in Europe. They don't want to cut the price, but they also want to sell enough units meet shareholder targets. Soft price cuts like these are a good way to do that without pissing off people who already bought them.

Don't be surprised if this £225 price point moves around to different retailers once a week and then goes back up to the official £300 SRP.

5.5 million by April 2013?

Maybe 2 million(at best) so far,only 3.5 to go
