If the only MGS I've played is 2, and I didn't like it too much after the boat, should I try MGS3 on 3DS?

Christ those Wii U sales.  I remember people were saying it was going to settle into 40k a week (which is bad enough) before anything came out.  It took one week to hit 20k, I suspect Vita numbers until NDAs are liftedand Sega announce Shenmue WIIIU

I wasn't a fan of MGS2 either and never did get too far after the Tanker chapter.

I loved MGS3.  Would recommend that you play it on the HD Collection (on PS3, 360, and Vita) and not on 3DS.  The 3DS port has some major framerate issues from what I've read.  It's too bad because I like the added Peacewalker control stuff.

When I really look at it, I pretty much just like MGS1 and MGS3.  Never finished any of the others, barely played MGS2 and MGS4.

Sony said it has agreed to sell its U.S.headquarters building in New York City for $1.1 billion to a consortium led by real estate developer The Chetrit Group.

After repayment of debt related to the building and other transaction costs, Sony said it is expected to receive net cash proceeds of about $770 million. A gain on the sale of about $685 million would be recorded as operating income, it added.

You're 100% right Oscar but they do own more property i assume. So its not as despo as selling your last asset.

Sure times is super bad for them but they obviously still have space to manouver (making some assets liquid) and turn things around if they reorganize.

Just saw the numbers, wow. I figured people were being hyperbolic when they predicted the PS3 might sell more soon, ouch.

Seems like Nintendo will need to do better than just telling people Smash Brothers will be out some day. There's literally no WiiU games on the horizon that justify purchasing one

I spoke with Liam Callahan, an analyst with the NPD Group, and he was kind enough to pull the data for the Wii U and the previous six consoles that launched in the U.S.

In the figures below, I'm only considering the first four calendar months that a system was out. So, except for the PlayStation 2, which launched in October 2000, all of these windows run from November of one year through February of the following year.

We have to remember that this is just what one guy was supposedly told by an employee. You could just as easily find anecdotes about places where the Vita and most games have sold out. And it's also just after the holiday season so they're probably figuring out what to restock.

And also keep in mind that Wal-Mart isn't really the type of store where something like the Vita would sell a lot. There's a lot of competition from places like GameStop and Best Buy and Target, not to mention Amazon, the PSN store and others. And Wal-Mart seems like the least likely place someone would go to buy a high end consumer-focused product like the Vita or look for games. (Especially since few people would even bother with going to the store when you can buy online.)

I think once Killzone and Soul Sacrifice and those other big titles come out along with more advertising to show this is a product that's a step above a rehash like the 3DS (that's also bombing compared to the DS mind you) that Wal-Mart will rush to get the product back on the shelves. Don't forget that Wal-Mart strong arms a lot of suppliers and Sony might have held firm knowing that they have a quality product that retailers will eventually be begging for once the consumers get properly informed and the economy recovers a bit.

The Walmart that I shop at on occasion got rid of their Vita wares months ago to make room for the Wii U.

Definitely depressing and if the largest retailer in the country is slowly dropping the product, that is one of the final nails in the coffin.  I thought about making a list of Vita games I want and just buying them.  I could see a lot of Vita games just kind of disappear and command ridiculous retail amounts.  Games like Virtua Tennis 4, Disgaya 3, Metal Gear Solid HD, etc.

A shame because it was a great system but these are clearly the twilight months of its life.

Capcom end FIFA 13’s run at the top as ‘DMC’ (Devil May Cry) debuts at No1.

It may be a quiet time of year, but it still represents Capcom’s first All Formats No1 since ‘Resident Evil 5’ back in week 13 2009 (Resident Evil 6 could only manage No2). Released on Tuesday and developed by Cambridge indie developer Ninja Theory (the first time a Devil May Cry title has been developed outside of Capcom), DMC sells over a third of what ‘Devil May Cry 4’ did at launch when it also reached No1, back in week 6 2008.
‘FIFA 13’ (-40%) drops to No2 ahead of ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ (-26%), while ‘Far Cry 3’ (-49%) falls 2 places to No4. There is no change at No5 and No6 with ‘Need for Speed Most Wanted’ (-35%) and ‘Just Dance 4’ (-18%) both non-movers. ‘Football Manager 2013’ (-16%) is up one place to No7, while sales of ‘Hitman Absolution’ (-50%) are cut in half, knocking it from No4 to No8. The Top 10 is rounded off by ‘Skyrim’ (-20%) at No9 and ‘Assassin’s Creed III’ (-21%) at No10. DMC is the only new release to chart this week.

Going to be very tough to get consumers on board to spend hundreds of dollars on an entertainment device that doesn't start with an "i".

E3 is going to be full of lulz as Microsoft and Sony try to appeal to different types of consumers when they unveil various features for their new hardware.  Some of these ideas are going to fall flat on their asses, much to our amusement.  I can't wait!

People are still going to want to play games from their couch with minimal effort. The audience will shift to next-gen when the popular games make the transition. One or two of the new systems could still bomb, but at least one will be moderately successful.

Consoles aren't going to bomb. They are still going to move 150-180 million units in the next 6-7 years. Maybe more if one of them can ride a trend.

What they might lose in gamers (to mobile), they will gain in people that like their set-top capabilities.

Set Top boxes are and have always been the deserted dregs of home media, stretching all the way back to the early 2000s. Everyone and their mother has tried their hand at it including Apple but consumers just don't give a damn. I doubt set top capabilities are enough to "save" any console.

They shove Netflix, Hulu, etc. onto everything these days.  My TV has more streaming services than my Wii U.  Being a set top box doesn't amount to much these days.

They're going to have to find a new hook to bring people in and it isn't "going social."  Everyone and their dog has some type of social function these days.  It's going to have to be something novel and something that people actually want to play.  It isn't the economy, iPads, iPhones, iPods, etc. sell dozens of millions each year despite going for 2-3 times what a 360 goes for.  It's a large uphill battle and any of these consoles can fall flat on their asses.  The Wii U is fucking tanking right now with sub Gamecube level software sales.  Even though its Nintendo lol there still has to be a lot of executives nervous as hell as they reach the final months.  I hope that they got some good shit in store for us.

And you said companies where trying to sell setup boxes since the early 2000's, so you're off BY A DECADE.

That said you were born in the 90's so I guess it's only fair you don't know what went down.

Then again it's funny when you make these broad statements about how the industry works, but then actually don't know the history. Puts your statements into the right perspective.

I doubt, seriously, that a DMC 5 would have sold better or substantially more then the latest installment.
kinda like how RE6 is an actual improvement over part 5 but sold worse.  Just like how GTA5 will kick ass but not as much as IV did, or as Halo 4 didn't light em' up quite as much as Halo 3, same with Hitman Absolution and doubly so with Medal of Honor.

save Borderlands 2 and Battlefield 3, I can't really think of any recent franchise title that has sold better then its predecessor, and I would imagine that part of this is brand fatigue and part of this is the industry contraction.

Maybe.  DMC's a much more lucrative brand than Mega ever was, though.  They might be able to pull a New Coke/ Coca Cola Classic out of this if they're smart.

Its Capcom so chances are low tbh.

You need to remember DMC4 left a sour taste in a lot of people's mouths.  DMC5 wasn't a slam dunk no matter you look at it.

Didn't Halo 4 outperform Halo 3 and Reach?

Kind of faulty logic with the RE6 comparison. Since RE6's slow down is sales has to do with it's bad world of mouth. If RE6 was meet with a very positive reception the game would have been bigger.

Welp, DMC is dead.  Time for an Onimusha reboot!

I thought Darksiders 2 kinda bombed? Did it sell better than the first title but did bad in comparison to develoment costs?
