Is it true that Xbones are easy to find in NA? I don't trust the sonybots in GAF.

I mean, demand being so low shortly after launch sounds like a disaster.

I wanted one and a PS4 and up until a couple days before Christmas, the Bone was impossible to find.  Now they're everywhere.  So either people stopped buying them after Christmas or Microsoft shipped out a shitload of them (or both).  Still can't find a PS4 but since I heard Sony can ship over a million of them a month, I will just wait a month or two.  No big deal.

I think the X-box's sales are extremely front-loaded. They got as many people as they can after that DRM-fiasco and now they have to prey to get some residual sales. I really do not know anyone that has an interest in buying that system after the DRM-fiasco.

I am dead serious BTW. A good selling PC game should be measured the same as good selling console game i.e. 4-5M copies. Diablo 3 is a great PC seler (over 10M copies). SC2 is. The Sims 3 are. Minecraft is. Not a game selling 1M copies be it DayZ or Rome: Total War.

I don't even really think its about that. I mean eveybody here knows the PC is doing fine now. It's not even a debate. It's not like there are 20 posters on here saying its an irrelevant platform. Most of the really frequent posters including myself either game on the PC or have a gaming PC in addition to whatever else they game on. Yes there were some dark days a number of years back but its all relatively good now. The market is healthier now. The PC isn't going anywhere. Which is not to say its the #1 mainstream format but who cares. Isn't that supposed to be part of the appeal. That's its an alternative market that even if its not larger, it cultures a different environment due to the more focused group it attracts.

Yeah I'm not sure why anyone is surprised.  PS4 and Xbone games look the same to people (sorry, pixel counting distinguished mentally-challenged fellows don't count as people) but the PS4 is $100 cheaper than the Bone.  So why get an Xbox One when you can get the same experience for 20% less money?  Again it wouldn't surprise me to see Microsoft dropping the price to $399 in March, April, or May.

The real test for ps4 will be against a 400 dollar xbox u. xbox u is a well made system and ps4 feels cheap in comparison. that could be an edge for ms.

The Wii wasn't the exact same thing as the PS3 and Xbox 360 though. It's not like in 2007 you could pick up a PS3 or 360 and bowl with this weird motion dildo. It had it's own unique gimmick and games, neither of which the Bone has.

i dunno, generally things don't turn around in individual regions once someone's got an edge.  and the only region left up for grabs isn't going to go MS's way at all, so i think we can tie a ribbon on this thing.  if they dropped price tomorrow maybe, but you know they're going to hold off as long as possible on a price drop.

Even if the BF 4 launch was smooth it's never going to catch COD in sales. In fact I thought the whole EA constantly talking about taking down COD from a few years back was one of the dumber PR messages they tried to push across. COD is like McDonald's. You aren't just going to take it down as a genre king and if it was going to be taken down, it would most likely be by a game that also has massive casual appeal. Battlefield is simply not as accessible and not as casual as COD. And if COD declines that means fps multiplayer shooters in general are probably on a slight decline including Battlefield.

They should just focus on building the best game they can and be happy with the sales they have and put it into a rotation with TitanFall and Battlefront. That will give you a more than healthy share of the shooter market without worrying about COD every year so much that it forces you to put out a broken game at launch.

This same problem (yearly releases) plagued CoD to the point where them having to do more and more and bigger and better killed that series within two releases after CoD4 for me.

BF4 would be fine if it wasn't rushed out the door to where the issues it has/had right now is inexcusable. But it was. And EA is forcing DICE to do Battlefront as well as fix BF4 which means Battlefront may get these issues again because EA won't let DICE just do Battlefield, support it, work on their Engine/Frostbite and help EA's internal devs with Frostbite issues while supporting BF4 and planning BF5 in the near future...

DICE and battlefield are already on the same rotation as any Call of Duty Developer. The only difference being that the "off year" is filled with another title from another studio. That was the entire plan with Medal of Honor and battlefield but Medal of Honor sucked so that got replaced in the rotation with what will probably become Battlefront.

Here is DICE's output in recent years.

So they are already on a very prolific schedule with battlefield and that's not even including all the DLC from all this stuff and the Medal of Honor Multiplayer from 2010 which was also them.

And there is DICE LA now which is a separate studio also so the rotation idea is going to happen in some form.

It worked out of the box.

I bought every COD between MW2 to BO2 and was a big fan. But BF4 multiplayer slaughters them all. I haven't played Ghosts, but it looks like more of the same. They both cost $60. Content wise, Ghosts is a slice of pizza where BF4 is a whole pizza. Graphics wise, it's not even fair to compare the 2. Activision was so outclassed it's embarrassing.

Frostbite 3->4 engine
Frostbite support for inside-EA development studios (since EA overlords want it used for everything now)
Mantle API

Too many fingers in too many pies, whereas back in 2010 when BC2 launched they were doing:

Frostbite 1.5->2/BF3 ramping up
BC2 DLC/support
(Possibly Medal of Honor, but that was such a quicky job I wouldn't consider it a full DICE schedule event)

And that was it.
