Title: Minish Cap Fucking Rocked
Post by: Billy Rygar on June 28, 2007, 03:04:29 PM
Fucking Nintendo fans need to realize that Nintendo makes Zelda games for simpletons.  Capcom makes made Zelda games for people who would rather play challenging games rather than have sticky nostalgia swabbed over their eyes.

Some of the level design is questionable, but it's definitely a damn fine portable adventure game.

The portable games have been the best thing about the series for well over a decade, although I think that might be coming to an end with Phantom Hourglass.

However, the cloud/sky area in Minish Cap is one of the worst "dungeons" in the entire series.  Absolutely horrible level design there.

Why was there so much OoT wank in TP?

Minish Cap was pretty easy, though... the only part that really gave me a challenge was the end guy. Then again, OOT, WW, and TP (aside from the second dungeon) were all absolute cakewalks. Still, MC was a fun game even though it felt a little starved of content (only 6 dungeons, wtf? and they definitely could've done more with the shrinking/growing) and the kinstone subquests were pretty lame.

Because there is so much OoT wank among ninthings.

Minish Cap is my favorite 2D Zelda.  Link's Awakening is pretty overrated, as the Oracle games fucking stomped all over that shit.

Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask are still my favorite Zelda games though.

Twilight Princess is like bad Ocarina of Time fan service.  You almost get the feeling like Nintendo really dug Wind Waker, only to be saddened that nobody else did, so they crammed as much fan service in Twilight Princess to appease Ninthings.

Agreed.

I think I'm alone in absolutely hating Wind Waker... hated the character design (then again Zelda always suffered from ugly characters), hated the sailing, hated the triforce hunt, hated the drawn-out fetch quests just to get a quarter of a heart, hated the lack of challenge, hated the stealth dungeon in the beginning, etc. Well I liked a couple of the dunegons and the final battles, the setting was a cool idea, and a couple of the non-essential-to-visit islands had some cool puzzles/content, but that was about it.

MC I think is my favorite portable zelda.  TP was awesome.

Again, great game, but once again suffers from 'lack of dungeon' syndrome. Probably the weakest 2D Zelda, actually.

Twilight Princess is like bad Ocarina of Time fan service.  You almost get the feeling like Nintendo really dug Wind Waker, only to be saddened that nobody else did, so they crammed as much fan service in Twilight Princess to appease Ninthings.

Sorta agree. To me it seemed like Nintendo thought that it would be enough to have an older Link and lots of dungeons and call it a day. Now those were great decisions and all, but they completely forgot about the other aspects altogether, such as music, sidequests, proper progression, and an epic ending. As a result it wasn't even a good OoT clone.

Still, Nintendo deserved what they got with WW. If you're too stupid to realize that having a mutated powerpuff baby as the main star would drive people away, well you know.

I loved Minish Cap but are you implying that it was in any way challenging? Other than finding all the useless collectibles it was cake walk simple. I didn't die until the final boss, and I only remember getting stuck like once the entire game.

Great game, but easy as falling off a bike.

I agree. When I saw the first trailer I felt like the only Zelda fan on the internet who wasn't happy or excited. Everyone else was jizzing themselves and I was like "Damn, they really did give in."

Windwaker to me just felt so much more Zelda than OoT. I remember playing OoT after WW and being turned off as soon as Link became an adult. It just didn't feel right to me.

I can't help but giggle when people say that or they 'sold out' and whatnot. Because they never showed a tech demo with OoT Link fighting Ganon that virtually everyone got excited over a whole year before they showed WW.

Good god...

Was it cause when you played the 2D games, Link looked short and you assumed he was a 5 years old or something? Seems you probably had a tough time to adjust to all those 2D games that now turned 3D like FF and the like, that didn't star pre-schoolers. He was shown as a young man in several of those 2D games as far as the artwork goes. So I don't know what you're going on about.

I mean jeez, I may make fun of WW, but I actually finished the goddamn game despite me hating his hideous visage.

Edit: Oh, shit. Didn't read this:

You mean the same Capcom that did Okami? The game that was easier than WW? Come now, Billy. :P

Maybe a little. And yes I know he was shown as a young man in the older artwork. It wasn't even so much that he was an adult, I just felt that was the point where the game sort of lost it for me. I went back and played it further but its still not as amazing as people make it out to be. Good for its time? Yes. But not a classic.

FF going 3D didn't bother me at all. The ages of the characters in the games actually seemed to get younger as the series went 3D. OoT was the only 3D conversion that I really didn't enjoy that much.

Not saying you did, or you were obliged to or anything. I meant they had something like that demo in the works (at least in the planning stages) and it was based off one of their most highly acclaimed and best selling games. It's like saying Nintendo 'sold out' for making PH after TP, or LttP after Zelda 2.

Indeed. I don't even remember if I played past that.

The game up to that point was anything but challenging, and not very enthralling for me.

Too LONG. It was too long.
