10 High-Paying Jobs... No Degree Required
By Laura Morsch, CareerBuilder.com writer
Higher education and higher income often go hand in hand. But a college diploma certainly isn't the only ticket to the gravy train -- just ask Microsoft co-founders Bill Gates and Paul Allen. These two college dropouts are now among the wealthiest people in the United States, with an estimated combined net worth of $72 billion.
They have plenty of company. Five of the six richest self-made billionaires on Forbes magazine's list of wealthiest people in the nation didn't finish college.
Exceptional performers or entrepreneurs in nearly any industry can command enormous salaries. The following jobs, however, consistently boast high pay, with nationwide average salaries far above the norm -- and no degree is required.
1. Air Traffic Controller -- $105,820
The job: Organizing and controlling the flow of airplanes into and out of an airport.
How to get it: You may not need a college degree, but getting hired as an air traffic controller isn't easy. Candidates need four years of college and/or three years of work experience before undergoing pre-employment testing. Once they make the cut, they must complete the FAA Academy and an additional training program before starting work.

How do you get experience as an air traffic controller without a degree? Do you like, play a lot of Microsoft Flight Simulator?

I really liked this movie called pushing tin it was about Air Traffic Control men. Some airports dont even have control men they farm it out to special FAA control centers those things are scary i saw a video of like 200 people at stations controling planes that are all over the us.
I'd like to get my pilots license but as of right now i've only had 10 hours of training. I wanted to learn how to fly a jet but you cant just jump into a jet and start learning. I really should go back and do the night flying that would be awesome.

Did you get that off of AOL.com, MAF? I swear, every single day they have some sort of materialistic tripe as their "headline." "Top 10 high paying jobs!," "Most expensive getaways," "Cars of the rich and famous," "Check out these super mansions!" etc. etc.
It's all the usual pablum designed to play on our voyeuristic proclivities and feed the doomed-to-failure capitalistic system we're living in. The envy and greed inculcated in people by these sorts of articles and shows ("Cribs," "My Super Sweet 16" etc.) make us all too willing to become grist for another's mill, enriching their lives at the expense of our own on the off-chance that one day we, too, will become rich (which happens to < 5% of the population). I mean, this type of "entertainment"/"news" is not ennobling in any way, and only provokes subconscious feelings of inferiority and worthlessness in most of the people who watch it. I wholeheartedly believe that the reason there's a surfeit of such shows/articles in recent years is because of what I stated above: it makes people willingly sacrifice their own quality of life to unwittingly enrich the lives of others. And then these people go to their graves unfulfilled and discontent, having never found true meaning and peace in their lives. This is the system we live in -- one perpetuated by the very materialism it engenders in an endless race to the bottom, even as the standard of living is being eroded for the vast majority of people; it's a system that is destined to fail. It's unsustainable.
Believe me, when I'm 80 years old, things won't be the way they are now. Sorry for the rant, but I've wanted to get that off my chest for a while because every day when I go to check my email I'm greeted by this sort of BS.

materialism and mercantilism reign supreme and have indelibly perverted our morals to their roots... to live an happy life you need to be able to spiritually detach yourself from all that, but yet by knowing their particularities and their rules very well, not by ignoring them totally... or they own you
these values instead of bonding people together turn humans one against another while they wrestle in economic competitivity... before the 20th century, very few had a chance of being successful, but now with education and modern means and technologies, most everyone has a chance to compete and be successful, although not to the same level... it's aggravating everything since in people's minds it's all that matters, and medias only propel that image

Lolz Loki is better at talking than you.

Loki knows when to use the big words and obviously doesn't pull up thesaurus.com in an effort to make his argument seem more credible.

Because I know where that is (who doesn't), I will let you plug it here, but I can't promise I'll watch it. You don't care about EVILBORE, just your precious sponsors!

I have no intention of starting a gamelife thread here when the next ep is released. That would make me the one-dimensional twat everyone already thinks I am.
edit: I completely misread your original reply. I thought you were upset because I had a GBA rom site bookmarked, stating I didn't care because I downloaded a game. Sponsors? hahahahahahaha Please!

But aren't you the one dimens- oh snap! You got me! :P
I think you should do a bit and find that guy from Nintendojo that tried to speak Japanese to Miyamoto at E3 years ago, and take him to Universal to communicate with the Japanese tourists that huddle around EB at the City Walk.

Oh man - totally something I didn't need to know with all the travelling I'll be doing in the next few months (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton). :'(. Pray for me.

Well, looks like we'll be needing a new moderator soon. I am eyeing malek!
