My second game that I got for the Wiiner, and *gasp* it's another gamecube port!
Anyway I truly do think that this is one of the few games that I felt the Wiimote wasn't a gimmick to the gameplay - and *wait for it* actually enhanced the gameplay!
Much eaiser and cooler - and unlike Zelda didn't seem like such a bother god I fucking got tired of waggling that sword around, but RE4 makes it simple and easy.
But going through it I was like, damn, Resident Evil 4 is awesome - I easily thinkj it's in the top 10 best games ever.
-
good game, shitty escort crap for a bit
then good again
-
Ashley wasn't too bad outside of that ONE part with the monks, but even then I thought it was just a pretty cool challenge.
-
Awesome game, cant wait to get my hands on the Wii version
-
I didn't like it
boring, repetitive
not scary
too "gamey" in its plot and environments
dumb just dumb
-
wow

A game so nice, I bought it twice (GC + Wii). I still haven't tried the Wiimote controls, because I'm already quite adept at aiming with the GC controller and the Wii aiming reticule really barfs up the game's visual appeal. I really hope RE5 delivers when it arrives on the 360. The analog sticks on the 360 should be as good, if not better (for aiming) than the GC controller. I'd like to see them continue the laser sight aiming from RE4 as well. The third person aiming in games like Dead Rising is a bit shite in comparison.

why the fuck did you buy the Wii version if youre not going to use the controls
-
i've tried to like it several times and failed -- i get to the escort ashley bits, roll my eyes, and quit.

True anamorphic widescreen and additional content. Why else?
-

lol escort mission
lol overly drawn out length
lol castle that won't fucking end

It's a C game, at best.

You and me both, I actually hurled my Wavebird across my apartment during that rubbish escort horseshit and never touched it again
-
The only people who ENJOY escorting Ashley are the same lonely social distinguished mentally-challenged fellows that enjoyed escorting that girl in Ico.
-
You guys bitch over the escort missions way too much. I didn't even know that there were so much complaints about them until after I beat the game and started browsing through the GAF thread.
lol overly drawn out length
How is the length overly drawn out? It's a 20 hour game.

Everyone here sucks at gaming!
I'm going to go make my own gaming forum and only Beezy will be invited!

sell your nintendo systems, losers

It's 20 hours? Really? I thought it was 25-30? When I stopped playing it the first time, I was a good 15 hours in to the game.

It's not developed by Capcom though, it's by Grasshopper 8)

I love RE4. I don't see how you could bitch about RE4's escort mission but not have major issues with Killer 7's designed-in-1982 gameplay.
-
What's wrong with Killer 7's gameplay though? I never got what was wrong with it. I think the gameplay is fascinating, and it has some of the most creative boss fights from last gen. I'm not saying RE4's gameplay is bad at all, in fact, I find some of the boss fights and some sections to be excellent.
-
I just think the whole shooting mechanic is often needlessly frustrating.
I mean, much less so than RE4's 20 minutes of escorting Ashley.
-
Is it really 20 minutes? I'm a pretty slow gamer when I play things for the first time, but it felt longer than that. Oh well.
I liked the shooting mechanic. It was an interesting mixture of multiple genres I like a lot: adventure, rail shooters, first person shooters...it felt like an actually interesting take on the first person shooter genre. The enemies had enough variety, and I felt tension when playing K7 because those fuckers would just blow you up if you didn't kill them before they got to you. I guess I'm in the minority when I say I feel Killer 7's gameplay is amazing stuff.

Hour at most I believe.

the only part where ashley is actually is a pain in the ass is that ONE part where you have to fend off while she's craking the thing - other than that she fucking stands behind you and does nothing...wow escort mission total dragdown...
-
RE4's way too easy. I'm not concerned that it's not scary, because RE hasn't been scary for me since RE1. The game's also not too exciting until you get to the island and Ganados start gaining some speed. The story scenes are a hateful mess and a joke on the player.
The game's satisfying in a certain way, but not in any way that involves skill. And QTEs aren't fun.
Mercenaries rocks, though. I could play that forever.
-
Jiji, you didn't get excited in the town? :(
-
i felt the game went on for too long; the story was tripe. The gameplay was ok, but once you figured out that you can slaughter them all by shooting them in the knees and then in the head, the game gets so repetitive.
-
never got around to beating it... usually that's a sign of boredom to me. from what i've played, it was good -- it's just that the pacing isn't for me. i'm thinking of picking up the wii version though because i always thought RE aiming was crap.
-
I just replayed it (Wii game) and I do realize how long it is. They could have cut out an entire section of it and it would still be like 12 hours long. This type of game isn't usually 20 hours. I don't think it's too long, though by the end the mechanic is wearing a bit thin. I think it's evident in the designers making interesting bosses to mix things up. The last "traditional" boss is Salazar, I think. It, Krauser, and Saddler are all pretty interesting boss fights.
I certainly don't think it's the second best game of all time, but I don't think it's a C level game either. It's an A, and an A with high replayability. I'm shocked there haven't been more RE4 clones.
-
I didn't like it on Gamecube and I'm not buying it on Wii.
Shitty controls on a rails shooter pretending to be an action title.
On the next Resident Evil I hope they make up their mind on what kind of game it is supposed to be.
-
I hope I can get it tomorrow (missed it when it first came out and for some reason gamestop doesn't get a new shipment until tomorrow). Is it fun in the way that you can just go in and start shooting things?
