It also helps that it's got such an attractive price. It won't die on you a year later either. I plan on getting it when some major game like No More Heroes or Mario Galaxy comes out.
none of its games are any good, you're only deluding yourself because you're desperate to look trendy:rofl
the Wii isn't next-gen either... man up and get a PS3 or a 360
I never thought I'd see the day when liking a Nintendo system/games equals trying to be trendy. :lol
Btw, according to futami, the 360 isn't "true next gen" either.
:rofl
I used to make fun of the Wii, but not anymore. My 360 red lighted 2 days ago after only 2 months....at least you can trust that your Wii will last an eternity. Please, buy Guilty Gear XX when it comes out, ok?
And fuck you, Excite Truck is bomb. I don't think there's a better game to play high.

wrong wrong wrong. the best stoner games are the two katamari titles, monkey target from monkey ball, and rez.

You just don't get the same amount of competition and pressure when playing party games on the other systems or when playing online.
metroid looks like shit, though
SSSB is a steaming pile of nostalgia-detritus of Nintendo's legacy-that appeals to the kind of person who never really got past the phase of watching the same three movies over and over and over as a kid.

Would this apply to something like Marvel VS. Capcom as well?

Somewhat, I suppose. The big difference, at least to my eyes, is that Marvel vs. Capcom is first a fighting game, then a character/mascot nostalgia-fest. People don't buy it or play it because "OMG Wolverine slices things", they dig it because it's a fast, easy-to-learn, ridiculously over the top 2D fighting game. Smash Brothers, on the other hand, always felt more about the mascot showcase than the actual gameplay (which is both basic and boring, IMO).
I bet most of you haters didn't spend more than an hour with Smash Bros and just shrug that shit off because "OMG nintendo is teh kiddy!" bullshit... the game gets to be surprisingly pretty deep... nothing quite as deep as frame-counting in VF5, or memorizing long-ass button sequences, but like hell you'll find 99.99999% of the populace who'd pick up and give VF5 a try, when the Smash series has much more universal appeal. Hell, Melee was one of the games they had for tournament play at Evo, the largest fighting game tournament in America. I think Melee is the perfect mix between pick up and play and hardcore and I am looking extremely forward to Brawl.
Frag... no offense but your constant condescending attitude gets really annoying.

why would you even want to try melee in the first place? i see the trix rabbit and as an adult i BACK THE FUCK OFFcan I say a fighter based entirely on cereal mascots would be AMAZING?

You don't get good competition when playing games online? Elaborate, because I'm not buying it at all-my experience on the PC is that online gaming is totally cutthroat, and if you can't get good competition it's either because you've ascended to godhood at the game or no one is playing it anymore.with online play, you don't nearly hit the other guy trying to swing a bat. I only mean that when you're playing shallower party games. I personally would rate it (for games that get it well) singleplayer>>>>>>>>wii party games>other multiplayer games.

I am a snob, I don't try to hide that. I would just stay out of console game posts (like I do on GAF unless they rope the PC into it) but it's sorta hard here since there's like no game discussion whatsoever for the stuff I play.
I'll try to tone it down, just because I think you are a cool duder in my book. :-*

no, that's not my assumption at all. in a genre that goes for full-on immersion by placing you directly into the character, detail is tantamount.
