In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. "Mankind." That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom... Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight!" We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I always thought it was stupid that the day mankind destroyed the aliens was July 4th ::).
-
Stupid? Try ingenious.
-
I think we need to ship a copy of this movie into space. It will teach other alien civilizations that you don't FUCK with America!
-
Lol, infecting an alien ship with a laptop.
-
Wasn't it a MAC? That should make it totally feasible!
-
Plus, Data was the one who did it. He's an android and very smart.
-
Data? What?
-
iirc it wasn't easy for Data either.

I totally forgot the mess of a plot that was ID4. It was actually some japanese hacker (Becuz Japz are good with computers!) that wrote a program (luckily the alien computers are programmed in C++ too) that brought down the shields.

I :heartbeat this thread.

Whatever, man. Will Smith is going to be among the first up against the wall when the Revolution comes. For crimes against good taste.

ID4 was shit, man. Nostalgia for it is probably blinding you. I liked it too, back when I was in high school.

the FX in Independence Day have held up remarkably well. Heck, its probably the last big blockbuster type FX film that didn't use CGI extensively.
Practical effects and miniatures rock. The movie still blows, but at least it ain't ugly to look at like Spawn, The Haunting, Twister, Godzilla remake, or any of the other sucky movies of yesteryear are today.

Isn't that wall getting a bit crowded by now?

I have an mp3 of that speech. It's in my inspirational speeches playlist, right after Winston Churchill and Reagan's address to the nation after the Challenger explosion.

I always have room for more on that wall, Canadian.
