My friend really wanted to go and got a hotel room, so it looks like I'm going... should be interesting, I'm prolly gonna stick to the video game related stuff though. Anybody else from here going?
-

where and when?
-
It's July 20-22 at the Baltimore Convention Center... Guess I'm missing Tiesto playing at Hammerstein though... :(

The whole convention culture weirds me out.
PAX, AX, Otakon, Sakuracon, Blizzcon, Comicon, I don't care what it is. They creep me out.

If Gundamcon were in my den, and was solely comprised of myself, then yes, I'd go.
Aside from Evilbore and GAF, in real life, I keep my fandom to myself.

I really don't know... this is a fucking a topsy turvy time right now
-
Well they're gonna be there for a signing on the 27th, if you can only go one day.

this is the wisest thing anyone has ever said.

really? seems ubernerdy to get let your freak flag wave all high on the intertubes but then not be caught dead enjoying what you like in real life.
but that's just me though. i'd rather not associate with people that would give me shit for being a geek or a dork or whatever.

Sorta how you pretend to not know PD online, yet hang out with him IRL? We know your act. Anal warts.

It's not a fear of getting caught or anything like that, nor would I "give you shit for being a geek or dork or whatever." My wife, friends, and family know I like gaming and anime, and I'd openly admit it anyone. I just don't make a big deal out of it, it's pretty much something I do on my own, and I like it that way.

I go to the Tokyo Game Show every year, though I don't think that's exactly the sort of thing you're talking about. Fan-run conventions are fucking creepy.

E3, no, but Comicon covers such a wide variety of subjects, from comics, to movies, to TV, to games, that I probably wouldn't feel bad about going. Like, going to Doctor Who Fest or something would be like walking into a shame-filled nerd orgy. I don't want to go to a conference where I am locked in a convention center with 1000 people that have tugged to Sarah Jane Smith!

Maybe you should try the AVN convention. If you don't like it, you must be gay.
-
*shrug* I'd most likely never go to a convention dressing as a video game/comic book character, but I really don't see what's wrong with attending just to have fun and check out things.
-
Yeah, well what happened is my friend kept on talking about going, and he's one of those really unmotivated types that will never do anything for himself (he's 26, still lives at home with no job whatsoever, and I don't think he even knows how to pump his own gas yet), so I am just like "alright, you make all the plans then I'll go", thinking "oh he's never gonna get off his ass and register and book a hotel". But, last nite he told me he did... So it looks like I am going. I'm not cosplaying or anything like that :P Plus I figure, I am in shape, and I shower, so that puts me ahead of like 95% of the men there, in case I see a cute cosplay girl or something. And I heard that last year they had a room set up with all Cave shooters, I hope they have that this year, that would be awesome and definitely something I'd go for. Also, I've got a few college friends who moved down near Baltimore, so I'm gonna use this as a chance to see them.
They have the anime dance rave thing that is gonna probably be the corniest thing ever (especially for someone who used to go to raves back in the day), that's gonna be hilarious to go to, too.
Like really, the only thing about conventions that bother me are nerds who don't shower, and fat girls who just HAVE to showcase their cleavage to everyone, fuck if I could survive a night at a Hamptons guido pit, I could handle just about anything people throw at me!
I've been to NY Comic Con a couple of times and that was OK, they have a separate room with all games there that is usually pretty cool, I just hang out at that 'cuz I'm not into comics.
I try to keep my fandom to myself but some ppl see through it anyways. Though lately a lot of people think of me as a hardcore clubber and not a gamer. :lol

what is wrong with a fat chicks tits?
gay strike #1

Maybe you should try the AVN convention.
I would go.
-
They're having an Office convention in Scranton in October.
I have a feeling that if I tried to go I'd be surrouned by:
a)Everyone dressed like Pam or Jim, REGARDLESS of gender
b) Some of the fattest people ever
c) all of the above
I wouldn't want to go alone that's for sure.

watch out for this guy:
