Well what the hell, surprises don't come until the end of the shows usually. You guys get way too hyped up for an E3 conference if that's what you expect all the time. Plus, Moore specifically said that all the games in the conference would come THIS year. That's it.

The Halo 3 trailer didnt do anything for me. I guess that's because I was a HUGE Halo 1 fanboy. I was so hyped for Halo 2 after all the trailers and stuff, then was let down thoroughly. I'm not going to get excited over that trailer. Halo 2 and Halo 2 trailers were two totally different things.

Are you...are you serious? It was fairly boring and there wasn't ANY huge surprises, not to mention the sad Red Steel showing. Best part was Mario Galaxy.

CoD4 was easily the best thing they demoed and the highlight of the show. Seeing that demo run through Prypiat was awesome.

Just the second trailer that was already released. Also confirmed that both trailers were taken on the 360.

You can't announce price drop now and have the 90nm units flying off the shelves. Would you as MS want 33%+ of your newly sold units coming back and eating into the bottom line? They are buying time until the 65nm parts are in the channel couple of months from now. Then they can announce the price drop. The 3 year warranty thing was definitely to buy them time until the 65nm parts come on line. Then as defective units come in for service, they can replace the mobo with the new one and not worry about the thing coming back again for service.

You're going to get people to buy your machine this Christmas anyways (due to the holiday season and the Halo 3 release). There doesn't need to be any incentive. Save the price drop for March/April '08 when sales slow down and the twntysomethings are getting tax refunds.

Especially now with that 1 billion dollar write-off on repairs, it made no sense.

Say you did a 100 dollar reduction and it increases sales by 30% here on out (all numbers grossly rounded):

Total/2.35m/3.05m

So, you gain about 700k in sales and sacrifice 200 million dollars in pure profit to do it. Even if you optimistically slide the baseline sales up (due to crazy Halo hype) to the 3 million mark and then bump up the percentage to 50% increase in sales (due to price cut), that leaves you with a 1.5 million increase in userbase versus a 300 million dollar loss in revenue.
