#GA is the cool place to hang out. You can find most of the cool people there. In #GA you can just chill and do whatever and totally relax. "Take it easy" is the #GA motto, for example, that's how laid back it is there. Show up if you want to have a good time. Another good reason to show up is if you want to hang out with friends.
You can imagine #GA as an old style private club with supple but worn leather chairs, many good books and the odor of pipe smoke in the air, comforted by good friends and attractive women bringing you good scotch. its like we are all old rich friends and compadres who come together when needed to do good works for mankind

GAF is a moderated community because if it wasnt, it would go straight to hell in hours. It's pretty much the only giant gaming board on the net still has a certain level of quality of post. That's why it's also one of the few (if pretty much) the only public forum that is somehow respected by the gaming industry (to a certain extend) hence why theres so many of them posting public or stealth.
The whole OMGOMG THE INTERNET SHOULD UNREGULATED AND I SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO POST PHOTOSHOP OF COCK HORSES PENETRATING PETER MOORE crap is fucking old.
#ga is the raw version of ga, and it's way better. But fuck, they gotta pay the bills and letting a giant forum like that turning into gamefaq is a waste of time, ressources, and budget. I'm all for a moderated forum to be honest. distinguished mentally-challenged fellows have to be filtered.

95% of the dummies can't be banned arbitrarily and whimsically like the others are because they did nothing wrong per se. When someone is expelled it's very, VERY rare that it's not for something that is perpetrated a few hundreds of times per day/week by other people. So there goes that little theory about how GAF's policies keep the "ship clean". All that it creates are sycophants and an awkward climate. It would require a massive genocide to do stuff otherwise.
And fuck, here, even if the thread titles aren't as descriptive as GAF's, people act just about the same, the only major difference being that a bunch of personal attacks are allowed here and there. So it's not necessary to oppress people.

I've been banned from #GA loooong ago for saying that anyone willing to buy an Xbox 360 RF adapter should shoot himself in the head with a gun. :lol
