Title: Greetings - a new day is almost here
Post by: Phoenix Dark on July 17, 2007, 01:09:58 AM: I've been avoiding spoilers since the middle of June by shunning internet messageboards. Granted I did indeed post on GAF during E3, but overall I feel I accomplished something, and I plan on continuing this after I post this.

In a few days I will go to Meiers around midnight with my brothers as well as kids from their neighborhood and pick of this book. Harry Potter means a lot to me, and while it will definitely be sad for me to say goodbye, I await the 21st with nothing but anticipation. I am not ashamed to admit that yes, I am a Harry Potter fanboy. I almost cried when Sirius died in OOTP, and I stopped reading HBP for a couple days to recover from Dumbledore's death. Jo has gone on record saying that Deathly Hallows will be a "bloodbath", and I can only hope that my favorite characters will make it out alive. Either way I'm sure I'll love the book.

For those who attempt to spoil the books I can only feel sorry for you. Not posting on the internet allowed me to do many things that I normally wouldn't do, such as volunteer at a soup line and visit a children's hospital. I was amazed at how many of the children were even more excited about Harry Potter than I was. It was truly a humbling experience. Leave the children alone. They don't deserve to have the book spoiled for them, and I don't see how anyone could consider themselves a man after making kids cry. As for those who are allegedly trying their hardest to spoil the book for me: don't waste your time. For weeks I planned out elaborate pre-emptive retaliations, but after talking with the kids I realized that an eye for an eye is not the way.

Now I will retreat back to my exile, and I wish everyone a safe and spoiler free month of July :)
