yeah sega said they were very interested in wii games so it would make sense that they would publish some for SK. I can't see any sega games with a great story so hopefully that means a new IP. Too Human and ET at least have story/atmosphere on their side.

2. I can't even believe sk hasn't had to close at some point. How do they subsist on less than 3d realms with what I'm sure are Ion Storm office conditions.

well there's no way SK would want to do a PS game. Also, sega would probably try to find a way to milk it as a mmo on wii.

How are PS1+2 compared to PS4?
PS4 is the best of the lot, IMO. PS1 was a SMS title, so it's pretty dated but for the era that it came out in (1987 if I remember) it's pretty cool. PS2 is pretty much the most unforgiving and asskicking console rpg of maybe ever, but is still pretty awesome.
If I ever get the fucks that turned this series into a shitty Diablo clone alone in a room, they will come out in pieces.

Yeah, PS1 and 2 are definitely dated and play more like 8 bit RPGs (think FF1 or the early DWs) than more modern interpretations of the genre. PS1 is pretty open ended as far as console RPGs go, and both games have absolutely MASSIVE dungeons that will kick your ass so hardcore. Definitely recommended if you like a challenge! But both games have rather simple and dry battle systems,and although they have stories, they're not nearly as fully developed as a more modern interpretation... but for me, this means not sitting through hours worth of shitty cinemas, so I consider this a plus. The settings are definitely novel and what was there WAS good for the time. PS4 definitely holds up a lot better as a more modern interpretation of the genre - the macro system is a pretty unique feature that I wish was in more RPGs. The dungeons aren't nearly as long as 1 and 2, and the game is a LOT more forgiving, plus it has more in the way of story and character development (told by some impressive for the Genny manga stills). Just stay away from 3, it's not a horrible game, but it doesn't come close to matching the greatness of the other PS games.

I own Ys IV (patched to English), Emerald Dragon, and TM Ziria and TM Manjimaru... still need Kabuki Den. How is Cosmic Fantasy 3? I played a burn of 2 and wasn't feeling it too much... Ys IV is definitely an amazing game though, running into enemies to kill them just never gets old... plus the soundtracks for those games are top notch. Have you ever played Linda^3?

Y's IV is the shit, it's gotten multiplay from me....
Legend of Xanadu I have also played, breathtaking dungeons considering the hardware.
The CF games are a bit slow, and my Japanese is LIMITED, but 3 was fairly enjoyable.
I want to play IV one day.

PS3 would definitely get a lot less hate if it didn't have the PS name and the burden of following up 1 and 2, I can't say I really hate the game at all, the generation system was really cool (and I think beat DQ5 to the game in that regard), the way they tied it in to PS1 and 2 wasn't really THAT trite (although it was still tacked on), the multiple endings were kinda cool, and it had that dynamic battle music - really sinister sounding if you were getting your ass kicked, really cutesy and relaxed if you were kicking the crap out of some weak enemies.
Flaws - the dungeons seemed a lot smaller in scope, and generally less interesting than 1 or 2, and the animation on the enemies was much more half-assed, not to mention monster design. Luckily, SEGA followed it up with the PS sequel everyone wanted, but then the idiotic American market (who didn't even want to release it 'cuz they hated RPGs) priced it at $100+ just so it would purposely bomb.

How could this game not be the shit?" And I bet he comes across the exact same way when he is selling himself to daddys with deep pockets, like Nintendo, MS, and Sega.

It's a good game with a lot of unique mechanics- the whole generation thing is pretty cool, and it's the first PS with a refined battle system that lets you choose your specific targets in battles for each character. Plus you can allot points for techniques, so you can make your healers super bad ass.
The problem with PS3 is that it doesn't really follow the main storyline of the rest of the games- it takes place on one of the spaceships that left the planet Parma/Palma after it was destroyed in PS2. I still enjoyed the game quite a bit but I still think PS2 and PS4 were better games.
In fact, PS4 might be the best rpg of the 16 bit generation. TAKE THAT YOU FF FUCKTARDS!!!

dyack's problem is that he's trying too much with his game. i don't know if you've seen the latest trailer for too human but it basically starts with a nietzche quote and the actual cutscene is nothing more than a ''mysterious guy walks in a bar, orders a drink and beats up some bad guy'' you've seen in a billion from the 80s and 90s. i wouldn't call the cutscene bad, but it is pretty generic and the nietzche quote made it appear as if though i was going to be blown away by the cutscene that would follow.

You could buy the Phantasy Star Collection on GBA, it's probably less than $20 for now... if you don't mind dealing with a bug that'll lock up your game like 10% of the time when you try to save. This was the first time I heard the name Digital Eclipse and the primary reason why I think they suck. It really sucks that the Genesis collection on PS2/PSP only has 2-4... would have been amazing if they could have thrown in 1 (technically, 1 came out for the Japanese MD in a limited edition special) just for completion sakes.

PSP version sounds better already, 4 instead of 1? Sounds like a great tradeoff. I tried playing the first one on GBA and it's unbearable.
Just hack that thing anyway and you've got all 4 games without the fluffy poopy other games

Get the sega genesis collection on PSP. I am playing PS4 on that. Plus it has like every other good sega game.
And I can't wait to see what Sega has cooking with SK. If it's PS5, honestly SK will be redeemed. It's probably Altered Beast 2: Kirkergaard's revenge

Sega Genesis Collection is good, but they played it safe. It's mainly the well known games that I already own on there.
