Title: Guilty Gear 2: Overture Revealed For Xbox 360-- 3D Action Game??
Post by: bork on July 18, 2007, 10:30:16 AM
Can't tell what the hell is going on in the scan, but it doesn't quite look like a fighting game to me, and I'm too lazy to attempt a translation.  Definitely didn't see this one coming...

I'm bored with GG's fighting mechanics and after beating XX to death with revisions, I welcome this change.

I saw that scan on GAF last night, looks like Guilty Gear Legends to me.

Arc System Works has announced Guilty Gear 2 Overture for Xbox 360 according to the latest issue of Japanese publication Weekly Famitsu.

Unlike the previous installments which were 2D fighting games, the sequel will be a mix of real-time strategy and 3D fighting game. Players will select characters - such as Sol Badguy, Sin, among others - referred to as "Masters" in this game. You will also have units to move around and give commands on the field map in RTS-like fashion. When in contact with enemy units, the battle then becomes more synonymous to a 3D fighting game.

Guilty Gear 2 Overture is currently 80% complete, but no release date has yet been announced.

So are they making a sequel to the first Guilty Gear, Guilty Gear, and killing the X series?

The Guilty Gear X series is still tearing up arcades in Japan, so I doubt they're getting rid of it.

But there's no X in this game's title.

But there's no X in this game's title.

Yeah, and it's also an RTS/3D-fighter hybrid spinoff.  ::)

GGX ain't going anywhere, seeing how Guilty Gear XX Accent Core is coming for PS2/Wii.

Yeah because Arc Systems hasn't released spin offs to coincide with new GG releases. The fact that there's a 2 signifies something to me. Guilty Gear 2 spin offs + actual Guilty Gear 2 fighting game.

Himuro, it's a fucking spin-off.  Just like how they made Guilty Gear Judgement and Dust Strikers.

Arc's next fighter is Basara X.  That may be pronounced "cross," but there's your fucking "X."   ;)

You know Accent Core has some major revisions and additions to the game play, right?  Just saying...
