name names.
brands.
model numbers.
processors.
any recommendations.
My price is anything below 1500$.
I do want ati or nvidia grphics. No need to be top of the line.
I have been using http://www.notebookreview.com/ so far and the top ten laptop list confuses me.
Dell is at the top, really?
-
Buy a Vaio. Sony needs the money.
-
First, i'm not a rich f***, i'm a wealth human being. Second, 1500 for a damn laptop is silly. Last, you can find some cheaper laptops at your local stores, such as bestbuy or walmart, and so on.
-
$1500 is required if you want even middling game performance, joke character.
glescoes, bump yer amount up to $1700, and you can get an Acer with an 8600 Go, Core 2 Duo, and 2 GB RAM.
-
yeah it does seem silly
Id rather spend around 1000
which is probably why i said "or less"
im sure you caught that part tho
-
i have never used an acer product before in my life
good?
-
by an hp pavilion V6000 then, and kick the ram up to 2GB and add the nVidia 7200 Go 256 card. any of the core 2 duo procs will suffice. it'll run you about $1K at the end, and it'll run WoW well.
-
WTF, people play games on a laptop :lol :o :lol, stick to desktop's for gaming baby.
-
acer laptops are great! so are hp/compaq, oddly enough.
STAY AWAY FROM TOSHIBA, MAF BACK ME UP ON THIS
-
i have an hp and was considering another purchase from them
core duo 2 + santa rosa = win from what ive read.
Never had a compter with dual core, right now I'm using an athlon 64 3200+ what would be an equivalent or better intel ?
-

some people do:

a BIT out of my price range however

core 2 duo is lightyears faster than an oldschool a64 -- megaherz doesn't mean crap anymore. a 1.8 ghz core 2 duo will suck your balls dry and slip a finger up your mobile performance butthole, and any clock increases are hot buttery fuck gravy over the whole thing.
-
:lol ok thats good to know
-
$2,291.14
You pay that much for a damn computer and you better be able to play every game that was ever release on the pc, along with unreleased vista/xp games lol.
-
that's the point, pudrick.
-
oddly enough its spanks every other laptop available and costs much less then anything alienware makes. Not what im looking for tho, I have a desktop.
ichirou I have looked at vaios and they are waay overpriced for any laptop with similar specs is usually hundreds less. its a shame. I also read their batterys are abnormally priced as well. No thanks.
Professor Prole, what say you on the HP Pavilion dv2500t
14in screen, core 2 duo, nvidia 8400m. Options for 12 cell battery, which from what ive read= 4-5 hours.
I really just want to play the odd FFXI or HL2 game, nothing fancy.
-
that'll work great. hp = :rock
-

is the link. 950$ minimal specs 1250ish for what i want.
I wish it came in white like the dv6500se but glossy black is fine
-
i have the dv6500se :rock :rock
using it right now as a matter of fact!
-
is it beautiful as the pictures
-
it's pretty sex, although it's the turion 64 x2 w/ integrated graphics (GeForce 6150 256 MB discrete) and 2GB RAM. i'd part with it for $800 -- i got a killer deal on it, but i want something with more gaming punch.
-
What about PC recommendations? Can I get anything good for about $800-$1000?
-
yes
-
:maf
-
you should build your own beezy
http://www.newegg.com
-
Um how much would I have to spend to I wanted to play Blu-Ray HD video on my laptop?
-
add $300-$500 for an hd-dvd or blu-ray drive
-
blu-ray drives are a 700$ dollar add-on on the sony vaio site
-
you should build your own beezy
http://www.newegg.com
Nah, I have no idea how to do that.
-
its pretty easy
-
Hmmm.How much RAM and/or G.hz would I need to play Blu-Ray videos?
-
its pretty easy
I don't know much about computer hardware and I have no one to help me. I don't think I should take the chance.
-
you have the internet to help you.
Im willing to bet more then half of evilbore have assembled a computer.
-
Hmmm.How much RAM and/or G.hz would I need to play Blu-Ray videos?
Ahem.I NEED to know.
-
go to the sonystyle website and configure a laptop with bluray, they force you to choose a processor that can handle said drive.
-
Oh ok.Thanks.
-
Anything that's not a Dell!
Disclaimer: I don't have a laptop. I only go by what I hear/the experiences of friends.
-
Gaming Labtops:
VoodooPC's labtops look nice but they're expensive. Same thing with Alienware. Also, Alienware's quality seems to have gone down since it got purchased by Dell.
Practical Labtops:
Toshiba is the best value. IBM is the most expensive but also the most reliable. IBMs are also ugly though.
Flashly labtops:
Sony and surprisingly Acer. Acer usually makes cheap shit but their Ferarri labtops look pretty cool. Also, Apple makes great looking labtops but mac software sucks. However, TVC can probably teach you how to install vista on the Apple.

i thought ibm sold their laptop (thinkpad) business to lenovo?

i thought ibm sold their laptop (thinkpad) business to lenovo?
yeah, but people told me their quality is still pretty good. but I do kinda worry about the quality control of a chinese electronics company.

They did, but very little of the manufacturing ops have changed from what I understand. They are still pretty much the best laptops for corporate day-in-day-out beating. Shit for gaming, though my T60 does play Civ4/Galciv2/EU which is all I ask of it.

I've been thinking about picking up a laptop too. Been looking into ASUS and Systemax.
ASUS: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3203483&CatId=2289 (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3203483&CatId=2289)
Systemax: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2526118&CatId=2289 (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2526118&CatId=2289)
Customized the systemax would come to $1529 w/xp pro, 2.0Ghz 667 Mhz 4MB core 2 duo & 2 gigs of 667 ddr2 oh and 120 gig hard drive
-
but mac software sucks
:duh
-
