Title: potential relationship deal-breakers
Post by: xnikki118x on August 01, 2007, 04:29:27 AM
There was a thread on here a while ago where someone asked like 'if someone does x is it a deal-breaker?' It's interesting to think about. What would be an absolute deal-breaker if you're otherwise interested in a relationship with someone?

Mine:

- smoking
- STDs
- hates animals
- not a nice person

What about you? [Seriously, be nice.]

QFT!

If a girl doesn't get along with her parents, that's usually a sign that she has trouble maintaining relationships.

That's about it really. I have no right to be picky anyway; those are simply things I don't stand for. If she drinks that's fine, but when it comes to other stuff no thanks.

I think I agree with STDs. That'd be kind of awkward. Maybe if both people have the same STD.
Title: Re: potential relationship deal-breakers
Post by: Phoenix Dark on August 01, 2007, 09:55:52 AM
That should go without mention lol. If someone has an STD it's a pure no no. I wouldn't date someone if they had herpes

Kinda curious why that would be a dealbreaker? Assuming that other than obsessive game playing, she was a socially adjusted woman...

These are great lists, everyone. I definitely agree with making sure the significant other has a good relationship with their parents. I wish I would've known about that one a month ago.

OK, my last post was a joke so now I'll go serious.

- Wants to make English the official language of the US (I was actually serious about this one so I might as well put it in)
- Has no interest in traveling abroad or broadening her cultural horizons
- Does drugs and/or smokes
- Drinks too much
- Has no sense of humor about herself
- Parties too much
- Listens to country music, rap, or reggaeton
- Too conservative (against gay marriage, legalization of mj, pro-Bush, pro-Iraq War, that sorta thing)
- Has a lot of tattoos
Title: Re: potential relationship deal-breakers
Post by: Van Cruncheon on August 01, 2007, 09:38:16 PM
alright, since i'm bored, i'll be serious:

BAD THINGS
- tattoos (it tells me your sense of "individuality" depends entirely on expression and thus other peoples' opinions)
- extremely religious and/or conservative
- creepy sexual fetishes (bdsm; fursuits; poop; multiple partners; necropedobestial buttsex)
- stupid and intellectually unadventuresome
- NEEDY (this is the dealbreaker of all dealbreakers)
- reads Harry Potter to the exclusion of all else

UNPLEASANT BUT CAN BE OVERLOOKED
- has a MySpace account
Title: Re: potential relationship deal-breakers

Oh, yeah, I should add NEEDY as well.  I need time by myself, whether it's reading a book or watching a movie...solitary activities.  I don't need some girl who'll be like "Well, why do you need to watch L'Avventura by yourself when we could be watching The Notebook together? ^_^"
