i'm not sure what area to specialize into. my teachers either pimp they own areas or tell us to get into one of the labs, study our asses until we get a phd and then earn money lol. i like the idea of getting rich and all but i'm really lazy, so the idea of studying even more once i get out of college scares me. ;/

jesus told me there was money in computers

Phoenix: I pimp X360 on its strengths. Ill openly admit issues with the BC, and even attempt to see both sides of the issue with the hardware problems, but the internet is so chock full of hyperbole when it comes to stances on consoles that I do tend to fight people on the issues. I refuse to validate myself online by saying things about certain products that I dont actually believe.
Also, I find MSN and MSNBC a nice one stop shop for all the news and dumb stories I wanna read.
-
Just been doing what I like since I was 8. I remember making little movies with my star wars action figures when I was in 5th grade.
-
It sounds cheesy, but I wanted to make a difference in the lives of children in the community that I grew up in. That's how I ended up being a School Psychologist.
-
edit: oops

Cheebs was from a made up word called Cheebo I made in like fucking elementary school for some story I had to write. I changed it to Cheebs when a pizza chain called cheebo came about and was all over and I didnt want my name to be the same as that.
wait, is this the right thread?

I'm actually undergoing a career change right now, moving from the tech world to become a chef. I lot of people think its a dumb move. I mean the pay sucks, especially as you earn your chops on your way of becoming a chef, long hours, working on nights and weekends, dealing with lowlifes, thieves, and drug abusers on a daily basis, being in a hot, cramped kitchen with sharp objects all over the place, all the while cooking for people who would laugh if saw a cook's weekly take home pay. But the air-conditioned, gray, 9-5 life does not interest me. I prefer the frenetic pace and sitting in front a computer all day is not were I want to spend most of my life.

got a part time job and got promotions and God hates me.
-
I don't have a career, which rocks. btw.

Used to (still do!) design little computer games for fun, learned some basic programming concepts, decided to go to school to become a programmer, ending up getting hired to work in simulation/wargaming for one of the country's largest defense contractors. I don't think I would have ever expected this growing up, when funny enough I even had a poster of an F-14 on the wall of my bedroom.

Everyone in my family is involved in education in one form or another, it seemed only natural. Of course, my current job's only temporary but I'll be involved in education in other ways once I go back home.

I like the benefits/salary, and most especially the people I work with, but the actual work can be sometimes pretty boring. And they have a bad habit of not giving enough work so I'm usually bored, luckily NeoGAF and EB aren't blocked at work.

i wasn't bad at math but i just didn't like that much to do something with it. economics didn't interest me either so i settled for lawschool. i like it so far.
-
How is Law School? I always enjoyed studying Law and it would be my fallback. I hada lawyer friend who said that getting into UT law school was the hardest part of LAw school. After that it wasnt so bad.
-
i like it so far. you have to do lots of reading and research stuff, but i like that.
my presentation skills have gotten better, too 8) since i have to give them quite often.
