No, normal is 2 kids. In your world of owning endangered species as pets I guess normal is hard to understand.

I think Himumu first misread that most, and then Gay Boy misread it as well.

Nintenho was saying it's weird that their oldest kid may not know how a baby is made (I.E. DIRTY, DIRTY FUCKING).

If you can take care of the children what's the big deal? I could understand this argument in cases where you have horrible parents who aren't nurturing/taking care of the kids, but this is a pretty successful family. If Bill Gates had 10 kids I wouldn't care either.
Title: Re: VAGINA

Bill Gates probably wouldn't raise 10 homeschooled fundies, either.  Look, I can dig that the woman got her state cert to homeschool or whatever, but as someone with a kid I can promise you she isn't able to give all those kids the attention they need in a familial AND educational sense.  10-15 kids is the size of the ideal public school classroom, and that one woman is MOTHERING them all, too?

It takes a village...

I'm sure you haven't forgotten the father's role in the raising of children. And as someone who actually was homeschooled for a time, I can tell you there are many local (and nation-wide) homeschool organizations out there that offer various programs for the kids and parents. Most Christian public schools allow homeschool kids to participate in school sports, although they can't play in MAC tournaments (which sucked for me).

There is a huge community aspect here. From what I've read and seen (through TV special reports) on this family, they seem to function well enough. I know a family that features 10 kids, and having known them for around a decade I can say that the mother and father do a great job, fundamental beliefs aside lol. Like  I said, if you can take care of 17 kids who cares

well the point I brought up was living a sheltered life with a 20X20 foot space for you in the house can't be healthy.

the point that U2K brought up was that OVERPOPULATION IS KEWL.

the point that cyanista brought up is that ONE person (other homeschooled kids I know usually say daddy's the principal) has to teach about a 15 year age gap in kids EVERYTHING and maybe forcing jesus and sub-standard education isn't a good idea.

the point that michelle brought up is I have no fucking idea.

I already explained why this is not "sheltered". That's a stupid generalization that doesn't fit most homeschool kids, who participate in school sports/programs. You guys make it sound like homeschool kids don't go outside, don't mingle with "regular" kids, etc.

One parent does not teach all the kids, all the time; this is another misconception that I've already discussed ages ago. My mom is a smart woman in many ways, but there are areas where she was out of her league. My dad graduated from med school and was more than capible of teaching me math and biology. The organizations I spoke of also offer that: my dad for instance would help teach other homeschool kids their maths/bio, while other parents would give me special lessons for other things; I had chemistry lessons with a pharmacist, for instance. The parents work together in this way to further create a community. That's why I brought up these organizations. I know hundreds of homeschool kids, and most of their parents are connected with some local group to some degree.

But hey, who cares what I say right? This is why any sort of constructive discussion is never possible on this subject. When I speak my nonsense in evolution threads I'm quickly shot down (and for good reason) for not knowing what the hell I'm talking about. Here you and others are doing similar things. Whatever floats your boat I guess

homeschool kids I know aren't taught much by their fathers (mother's primary teacher) and they go to public school for science/P.E.  that's a lot less fucked up then what you're suggesting about going around to random people and learning courses.

what my point was was that 17 children can't be easy to manage for two parents.  to say that they should be taught by the same 1.5 people is pretty fucking stupid.  they need parenting figures, not somebody who thought it was funny to name them all with a J and keep them around them for most of the day.  I don't care how close you are to them all day, you're 1 of 17 children, you're not going to get that much attention.

cyanista explained that kids can't be given adequate attention PLUS education.  two children with a small age gap are hard for most people, probably because it should be.

I'm pretty sure I know more homeschooled kids than you, and have more experience with it.

Teachers are "random people" as well dude. All the people I was taught by (who weren't my parents) were affiliated with our local group. So I "knew" them already, and played with their kids. It wasn't a big deal at all

cyanista  didn't "explain" anything: she gave her opinion, which I respect but disagree with. Which is what everyone here is doing.

your point was basically "they can take care of them".  who gives a fuck?  at a certain size, you're not going to have a lot of attention to give your children even though there's a birth every year or two years.

most of the skill involved in teaching is being able to handle kids, most people can't do that.  that's why there's a huge difference between teachers under 30 and over 30.  they get burnt out.  them saying they want the girls to catch up kind of implies they shouldn't be allowed to breed.
