Title: Finished Zelda: LA, onto the Oracle games now
Post by: Oblivion on August 05, 2007, 11:32:59 PM
I played it briefly and have tried to come back to it on and on. Finished the third temple. Does the game get significantly better? After all this talk I've been hearing about it being omg so much better than LttP, I haven't seen much that seems that much more impressive.

Honestly, in my opinion, nah.  It's a fair handheld Zelda game, but once you play the Oracle games, you probably could go without playing any Zelda game after that.  I loooove the Oracle games.

I've beaten LA at least 70 times. It's my favorite Zelda game, although OOTP is the best. If you don't like it there's something wrong with YOU

When did I say I didn't like it? I said going through the first 3 dungeons, nothing screamed so much better than LttP as many have claimed. In fact, the first 3 temple are embarassingly short.

I will indeed agree with this.  However, Oracle games are better than BOTH.

:bow Capcom Zelda games.

Himuro - what do you think LA has over LTTP? I think they're both excellent games, the 2D Zeldas >>>>>>>>> the 3D ones.

IMO, LA has the perfect number of dungeons (8 plus a the final one, which is the formula used in the first zelda and oot), and Koholint actually has a personality, thanks to the trading quest.  Thereīs a bunch of stuff you do outside of dungeons too, like a few sidequests that you have to do enter some dungeons, but unlike TP they are actually fun.

ALTTPīs Hyrule doesnīt have much to it.  There is only one town, and there is nothing happening there.  I actually LAīs dungeons are actually better too.  Both are good games though.

I started a game of this on PSP. Then it glitched while saving and I wasted my progress, so it'll be a while before I touch it again.

i would LOVE all the gb games remade in the LTTP style, not the shitty minish cap style.

Z:LttP - Z:OoA - Z:OoS - Z:LA

2D perfection!

*btw why hasn't nintendo remade Zelda 1 or 2 yet, damn...

1. better dungeons 2. more interesting abilities 3. it's just awesome 4. perfect number of dungeons and quests 5. not too short, not too long

Dungeon 7 of Link's Awakening was the most frustrating dungeon I ever played. It would probably be a cake walk if I replayed it now, but someone stole my cart. Maybe I'll try to get the DX version off ebay, I heard it has a new dungeon in it. I wonder what it's like.

Pretty short, as I remember it. You get an item at the end that makes the game easier.

The bonus item is the different tunics (Red makes attack stronger, Blue raises defense), and you can get those after you finish the first three dungeons

ok, nothing really needed. what was the dungeon like, and the boss of that dungeon?
Title: Re: So I'm back to continuing Zelda: LA (update: at 5th dungeon)
Post by: Oblivion on January 31, 2008, 08:42:23 PM
Okay, so after a ginormous hiatus, I finally found the darn cartridge. Last we left off, I just finished the first three dungeons. Now, I've just beaten the 4th one and am on my way to Catfish Maw or whatever it's called.

So my next question is, when is the game supposed to be start being the best 2D Zelda of them all again? Zelda games usually start kicking into gear after the third dungeon, but here I stand UNIMPRESSED.

Again, don't get the wrong idea, I'm totally digging the game, but I was expecting just a tad more from all the internet laudations and what have you.

Okay, finished two more temples, and I'm a lot more impressed and the dungeon design. Pretty damn good now. Course...the bosses are some of the worst I've seen in the Zelda series.  :-X

Just beat Eagle Tower. Kinda frustrating, but ultimately satisfying. Probably best dungeon in the game so far.

Okay, finally done with the game. All in all, pretty darn good Zelda, albeit just a tad stupidly easy. One underrated Zelda that actually deserves some of its praise for once.

Imma interested in doing the Oracle games, but dunno if I should. THOUGHTS?!

Go for the Oracles... I think I preferred Seasons to Ages but both were really fun and have some extremely challenging dungeons.

I loved Oracle of Ages (awesome dungeons and puzzles), but Oracle of Seasons wasn't my cup of tea. It seemed too action-based, if that makes any sense.

i wound up liking oracle of seasons more thanks to its more difficult boss battles and tricker overworld. still, they're both effin' brilliant and tragically underconsidered. capcom spanks nintendo at their own game yet again

Yeah, play the Oracle games.  DO IT

...and then skip out on Minish Cap.  It kinda blows.

Prole knows what's up. :bow

Oblivion, I remember Ages having more difficult puzzles in dungeons, while Seasons having harder boss battles as Drinky mentioned. So it's really up to you. It doesn't make a difference I think.
