Title: Awesome day for buying stuff!! Yeah!!
Post by: Mr. Gundam on August 08, 2007, 05:42:05 PM
Since MAF had a bummer of a day buying stuff yesterday, I felt I'd shake things up a bit with an awesome day today of American Consumerism.

Also bought tickets to next Wednesday's Mariners game, a bunch of Mango Hi-Chews, and Taco Bell for lunch.

I bought a couple choose your own adventure books lol

FUCK HATERS those books are fun, and have kept me on the toilet for untold hours. Although I sure hate random deaths.

"Jenna wants to drive you to the haunted house. If yes, turn to pg69, if no turn to pg75"
LOL WOMEN DRIVING MY ASS
"You take the wheel but there's an explosive in the driver's seat. You die. Turn to pg4"
WTF

how does it take hours to get through these books, theyre like 80 pages of story parts and pictures and 30 pages of different endings.

It takes hours when you have 5 of them in the book bin of your bathroom. I like to go thru every scenerio possible.

You know normally I don't like when I imagine other EBers on the toilet, but some how the picture of you surrounded by stacks of choose your own adventure books, lost in choice, is quit funny.

Why're you buying them now if you didn't read them as a kid?  I loved those books as a kid but I wouldn't want to read them now.  The writing style is too juvenile.  There are some "choose your adventures"-like books for adults that are written by British authors.  My friend showed me some and they're pretty cool.  Some even require dice because they are basically RPG books.  The story ends when you lose a fight.  But I guess you could cheat since it's a book.

Prole and I were reminiscing about them.

My wife just informed me that there's a Jane Austen "Choose Your Own Adventure" type book.

Smooth: Cause theyre awful. The title alone is enough to get me to spend 3.33. It has something to do with the same reason I paid 11 dollars for a giant rubber frog that now sits in my office at work.

Looks like good stuff.  It's kinda weird sometimes how other posters can randomly share the same obscure interests.

Way of the Tiger is the series that my friend loved.  It only had 6 books though. Look at the awesome art.

Apparently you can download them now online ( http://www.the-underdogs.info/showbook.php?id=16 ).  Not sure how that would work on a monitor.

Have you ever been surprised by the stuff that you've bought, after sobering up?

I read some of the Lone Wolf books, they were great, probably the best Choose Your Own Adventure type books I ever read.  There were actually a series of straight-up regular novels based on the series, which were pretty decent (I only read the first two or three, and this was at least fifteen years ago, so take my opinion with a grain of salt).

My family ruled this year for my birthday! Between my parents, grandparents and aunts and uncles, I walked away with $140 cash, some CDs, and fully paid preorders for Ratchet and Clank Future (PS3), Uncharted (PS3), Folklore (PS3), and Royal Space: Wings of Honneamise (Blu Ray).

I typically get really weird crap from my grandparents and aunts and uncles, like Hollywood Video giftcards, coffee, and Gallileo thermometers...

I want that Jane Austen CYA so bad, it's like Cute Knight x literary pretention

I hope it has fake, non-Austenian endings written in her style. like if you choose to sleep with the guy before marriage

My wife just ordered it tonight from Amazon UK, we'll let you know what it's like when it's released in October.
