This week I have been strangely addicted to PSU
X360 - Phantasy Star Universe - I finished this on PS2 before, but playing it again here for the achievments. It seems like more than just the GFX are better on the X360 edition, I cant explain it yet...also a little track & field, Gauntlet co-op with my girlfriend and a few other XBLA bits
PS3 - Genji: Days of the Blade - The HS demo got me in to the mood to play a game with left stick movements and right stick rolls/dodging. I was also playing Blast Factor Advanced/hybrid research and some Gauntlet II online till the PS3's online shyt (no communication) pissed me off.
PSP - havent touched it all week. I am going to visit the family tomorrow morning, so it may get some play time...
EDIT: I have kind of enjoyed the fact that the releases have been slow last 2 weeks - gives me a chance to play older stuff..
-
so far just rainbow 6. I just got up to sergeant first class. not bad considering I've only had it for a few weeks.
later on today I'll probably play table tennis (friend's copy), I'm going to probably buy it later for $10 though.
probably wii play/sports later today since friends are coming over.
-
I've been playing "Brave Story" cause "Tales of the World" fucken burnt me out. I think I've had my fill of fetch quests...
GO TO %INSERT LEVEL% GET ME %INSERT MONSTER DROP/HERB/MINERAL%
And if you speak to them accidentally before you even finish the quest, you get a sassy response along the lines of
"Get me my shit quickly cuntdick"
;_;
But, anyways, Brave Story rox. Totally old school RPG gaming with a new school item creation twist...I loves it.
-
I started playing Devil May Cry 2, but a few stages into it I kind of stopped and haven't picked up playing it again. Probably will today since I've got some free time finally.

Im with ya BlueT. People may get hung up on some silly details about this game, but it is in no way a bad RPG. Definately am enjoying this more than Tales of the World so far. Not to say Tales of the World is bad, but while Brave Story is a traditional RPG in the strictest sense, it is very polished. Tales of the World just keeps coming off as a skeleton of a complete game to me. I have all of my characters in Brave Story to level 30-32 so far and they have some neat combo attacks, special attacks, and the enemy designs are some of the best ive seen in an rpg in a while.
The localization is also superb. I haven't chuckled at an rpg this much in a while. I actually think the blank smile of the main character works great when people are making fun of him. Plus the supporting cast always provides laughs.

Battlegrounds Battlegrounds Battlegrounds.

Galactic Attack/Layer Section is AWESOME.

Yep, it's a shitty Gundam game. But, it's my birthday today, so I can do whatever the hell I want.
-
finishing Okami now, after that Megaman Legends 2.
I never did get to try MML2 - I am very interested.
Distant Mantra - I love Gundam games. I have mostly all of the N-American releases...love the one developed by Capcom.

I've got all the North American PS2 games, regardless of quality, and all the Japanese ones. I know they're bad, but I just don't care!

I dont even think they are half bad - I even like SD Gundam force.....
How do you feel about MS Saga?
-
I want MSaga. I hear it owns.

I really like MS Saga. It's super old school and simplistic in it's design and presentation, but I had a good time with it.
-
Is MS Saga cheap these days

Is MS Saga cheap these days
It probably is, but I don't know for sure. I bought it the day it came out.
And thanks for not wishing me a happy birthday, loser. :P
edit: $17.39 on Half.com, not available on EB/GS's website.
-
If I wish you happy birthday can I get a homemade tape for my birthday?

I made a thread in the hot dog bar! :(
Isn't there supposed to be a really good Gundam game called Federation vs Zeon or something? I remember great reviews for this one Gundam action game on ps2 early in its life..
-
Gundam: Fed vs. Zeon and Gundam: Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam came out in the US on the PS2. They're both pretty fun Capcom developed arcade titles. There are also Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED Destiny versions out on the PS2 in Japan (which I own).
-
Error: The Misadventures of Tron Bonne has aged VERY well.
Still one of my favorite psx games.
-
msg3:s - i forgot how awesome the gameplay was. the 3rd person camera doesn't work in all environments imo --warehouses and those small cabins-- but it's easy to change it on the fly by just pressing the r3 button once. i'm at the fury battle and that bossfight really demonstrates how awesome/needed the new camera was and, again, the gameplay is the best of the series so far.

MGS3S is amazing because BOTH perspectives compliment each other and are useful for certain situations. MGS4 better have the ability to let you switch the camera on the fly like in Subsistence or I'll be annoyed.

agreed.
i forgot to add this but going into the menus all the time to change the camouflage can be tedious though i didn't really mind it that much --they did fix this in mgs4 though and that's nice-- however, the food/cure systems is lame.
-
I never had much problem with the camo stuff. I was annoyed with the original MGS3 release because the load times weren't to my liking, but in Subsistence the loading is fast and without many hiccups.
-
Along with the usual dosage of Street Fighter III: Third Strike...
I'm still only playing Guitar Hero: 80's Encore. :(

MML2 is soooooooo much better than MML1, it expands greatly upon it and the dungeons are awesome. the music is great and graphics arent so bad considering it's for the PS1. I played for a bit before going to Odin Sphere so I could finish it but I was definitely impressed with the game.
Himuro: Yeah I want to try tron bonne game, but so expensive on ebay :(
-
Most likely Odin Sphere,maybe Xenogears.
-
I think even the graphics in MML1 are great. There's something charming about them despite their low res textures. Same for Tron Bonne.

The Warriors (Xbox) - I'm really surprised by how fun this is. It's a level-by-level beat 'em up - with score! Each level has a high score that the game encourages you to beat by robbing stores, mugging people, getting score bonuses on skillful tagging and lockpicking, getting style points in battle, etc. The GTA-ish freeroamy mode would almost seem like a throwaway addition, except the bonus missions are actually creative and fun, and the rewards for finishing them actually add to the gameplay. (Feed the bums by tracking down their favorite food within the time limit! Thereafter, you can hire bums to fight for you! awesome awesome) The centralized hangout reminds me of Jet Set Radio. Am I committing some kind of heresy by admitting this? In fact, I think the whole game feels like a reimagining of JSR, only with Western cultural relevance. I don't hear much talk about it nowadays. It must be the street culture/Rockstar "taint" that keeps most gaming nerds from associating with it. But I'm really pleased with it, and I'm glad I risked the $5.
Etrian Odyssey - So much compressed gameplay joy. There is no bullshit here - no filler and no needless flash. There is only tightly-designed love. It's a crime that this averaged ~75% in reviews. Clearly, console RPG reviewers aren't in it for the gameplay.
Galactic Attack/Layer Section is AWESOME.
Yup!

I've noticed most console rpg fans aren't in it for the gameplay period. They just want story.
As for The Warriors. It's a great game. Glad you're liking it Jiji.
-
Jiji, The Warriors in general is like Jet Set Radio. I think that Sega was totally inspired by The Warriors movie when they made it.

Hmm, I hadn't thought of that. I didn't put two and two together when I watched the movie (just before I started the Warriors game, so I'd understand it better), but that makes sense.

Alien Syndrome PSP
Brave Story PSP
Celda Wind Waker GC (almost done!)
-
Mythos
I have to play through Stranglehold's demo again
I was tempted to install WoW again last night, but resisting temptation
Various Steam games
Brave Story is my bedtime game
Aside from Mythos, though, I really need to catch up on my movie watching. I skipped new releases on DVD this week due to money issues, and because of that I have had little blog material.
-
I wish to be in mythos :(
-
Titan's Quest
WII Zelda
MGS:Portable Ops (only when I'm in the bathroom)
PS3 Gaiden (if I have time)
all the new demos on the 360
and hopefully, Mythos if someone can hook me up.

Who is she? I recognize the little dudes from Dead Rising's toy stores.
-
Its their creator!
-
Ok, but where're they all from? I figure that Dead Rising isn't the first time those guys have shown up.
-
fukin MEGA MAN! jesus
-
I wish to be in Tron Bonne's pants :(
-
I want a new Tron Bonne dammit.
-
I wish to be in Tron Bonne's codpiece :(
fixd
-
The only way to screw--is to unscrew.
-
Wii: Super Paper Mario: Beaten already; going for 100% completion
DS: Ouendan 2
PS3: VF5: Got Conqueror Rank last night. Trying go beat all fighters, get all items, and emblems with Pai. Too bad no online play. I'll have to rebuy for 360 :(
360 and PSP are collecting dust right now. Not because there is something wrong with them. They have great libraries and I look forward to get back to them. I just can't focus on too much systems at once.
-
I wish I still had the naughty Tron Bonne pics that Ferrio sent me all those years ago. She was using one as a Little Flirt!
-
I just rented Shrek The Third and POTC: At World's End
Should be an easy 2000

I've been playing FFXII International Zodiac Job System (lolz), still trying to figure out if I can really play the game and get enough out of it/understand it enough when the game has so much Japanese. I think I'm going to have to sell this back (or attempt a return) and play the U.S. FFXII instead.
Today is Saturday...I've got nothing to do, the wife is at work, my friends have all gone back home( :'()...time for some heavy gaming. I'm thinking Titan Quest.
-
lyte edge, I thought you hated RPGs... surprised you went and picked up FFXII. If you don't like RPGs, that game won't change your mind, actually it may make you appreciate the hands-on approach of traditional RPGs much more.
-
He hates rpgs so he'll eat up the whole no random encounters + omg the game plays by itself stuff
-
i want to like ff12, i really do, but the godawful pointless real-time battle system makes it impossible
-
turn it on wait mode. it'll make the game more enjoyable trust me.
-
This weekend I pretty much stuck to PSU story mode (which takes me a while because I like to grind and get S-rank on the story missions/free missions) I found that if you get Srank on certain free missions with certain NPC's in your party that NPC will give you a special Srank reward in addition to your normal reward. I cant wait to finish story mode and get back to online mode. The visuals continue to impress the hell out of them compared to my PS2 memories.
In between that I played quite alot of Earth Defense Force 2017 and UNO online.
Didnt turn on the PS3 unless it was to watch a DVD.
Im about to put a new game in the PSP before I goto bed - I cant decide between
- Final Fantasy I
- Traxx padd
- Innocent Life: A futureistic Harvest Moon
- Ace Combat X
I have so many still in the wrap PSP games because I dont play it as much as consoles...I havent even played MG Portable Ops.
-
Gunnin' through BGDA2 in co-op. We're near the end, and using haste pretty much 100% of the time. It's so nice playing one of these console dungeon-crawlers on fast-forward. My girlfriend used the import-loop cheat (still not disabled in BGDA2!) to cheat us up a bunch of money for some kickass item crafting.
-
Finished my games and wrote up my reports for the Civ4 Beyond the Sword games I was playing for Realms Beyond and the Civ4 HOF.
Installed and started revisiting Crusader Kings before the expansion hits. Paradox games are so great. I've never done the 'export your finished CK game to EU2' (which you can then export to Victoria and Hearts of Iron) so I might try that this time just to say I did it. Also started a new game as Portugal in EU3.
Going to reinstall and play System Shock 2 this week, I think. Shouldn't take me more than nine or so hours given I know every nook and cranny about that game at this point.
-
I'm 50 hours into Baten Kaitos Origins. I think I'm finally close to the end.
-
Good shit, fucking awesome RPG.
Just got back from holiday (which Is why I havent posted here in a while) Im playing: Yakuza (very nearly complete), Shenmue (ditto), Im up to B24F in Etrian Odyssey, Outrun 2006 is rocking my face off, and Ive just started on DDS1
-
Played some Etrian Odyssey on the train to manhattan, am up to B3F, my characters are all on level 10. Just beat the Kraken in Earthbound.

Question - LTD does Shenmue seem/feel more impressive than Yakuza.
I havent played Shenmue for a long time, and dont have the means - but I remember Yakuza being less impressive.
-
I haven't been playing my DS much lately. I'm still at the beginning of the second stratum in Etrian Odyssey. :(

BKO, JSRF, and a whole backlog of games for the PS2 (mainly rpgs and adventure games). I really need to stop buying PS2 games...

yeah Shenmue has a lot more polish than Yakuza. Yakuza does have a lot of detail and all but something just feels a bit off about the game. I'd imagine if Id played Shenmue back when it came out I'd have been blown away
