Title: I finally saw Transformers...
Post by: Ichirou on August 13, 2007, 11:56:23 AM
...and I've changed my mind regarding worst movie of the year.  Die Hard 4.0 has definitely been displaced by Michael Bay's Transformers.  What an awful, awful movie.  It takes every shitty aspect of the script (btw, the movie follows the leaked script I read 99.9% of the time - the only changes are Energon Cube to All-Spark Cube, some shuffling around of the flashbacks with Sam's grandfather, and some editing of minor character scenes) and magnifies it a thousandfold with Michael Bay's distinguished mentally-challenged directing style.  I didn't care about any of the characters, and I cared even less for the robots (there were characters in the script that could have been cut out entirely, like the computer geeks). Nothing could rescue this movie - it didn't help that the robots themselves were some of the shittiest, most unimaginative pieces of design ever.  Y'know, I don't care if you think that the cartoon designs wouldn't have worked in live action - whether they would have or not, that doesn't change the fact that the movie designs are utter shit.

If it were possible to score this movie a negative 5 on a scale from 1 to 10, I would.  It's that bad.

I've never seen a Rush Hour movie in theaters, and I'm not about to start now.

Spiderman 3 holds the title for worst movie of the year.

I'm not even about to believe that Transformers is worse than Die Hard 4.0.  By most accounts, Transformers at least has passable action sequences and a plot that is nonsensical, but not otherwise insulting.

I liked Transformers.  I liked Die Hard.  I even liked Spider-Man!   :o :o :o  I will say if you're either a Transformers fanboy or expecting a ton of nostalgia, the movie isn't for you.

The only disappointment for me was Pirates.   :-\

I want to see Rush Hour 3, but I really am afraid that will suck, so I think it's time to look for a "cam" release.

Oh, and I want to see Bourne Ultimatum too.  I "saw" it already, but the quality wasn't that great.

I liked Spidey 3, but Transformers was laughable.  And where was the Linkin Park "Autobots are watching over youuuuuuuu" song?  It didn't even play during the credits!

I can not forgive what they did to Jazz! They turned him into the token blackie ensign on an away mission.

Otherwise the movie is absolute cheese.

Transformers > Live Free or Die Hard
Live Free or Die Hard - 8/10
Transformers - 7/10
Spider-Man 3 - 7/10

LFODH :bow I still hold it is  just slightly (both 8's) better than DH3 with my ranking being 1, 4, 3, 2
