So, Rock Band is around the corner and a very important decision must be made: 360 vs. PS3. There are actually a number of pros and cons for each:
Xbox 360
+ Online community will rule...
- ...for, like, 3 weeks.
- Wired guitar...
+ ...that doesn't signal-drop
+ and works with Frets of Fire
- Three red rings are all-but-inevitable
- Generally speaking, the 360 is not long for my entertainment center
PS3
- Online community will suck...
+ ...Rock Band is about PARTYING and DRINKING with friends!
+ Wireless guitar...
- ...with Bluetooth signal-dropping
? USB for charging? Frets of Fire status unknown
+ Japanese build quality means rock without fear
+ PS3 will be around forever, and PS4 will be backwards compatible
I presume they are not cross-compatible online.
WHAT DO I DO

WHAT DO I DO
Are you buying the entire Rock Band set with all the gadgets? If so, then it doesn't matter too much-I agree that online play in this kind of game is sorta silly.
If you're not buying all the toys, then you should get the version that your friends will be getting.
-
yes, I am getting the $199.99 "super duper music game nerd" edition
I know I want the guitar and drums and that's enough right there

They are best considered nerd points. :P
I'm buying the PS3 version regardless. :D
-
I've actually been debating this with Patel recently, I'm in the same basic position. The wireless guitar/free online play/not worrying about RRoD is pushing me towards the PS3 version at the moment.
Yes the PS4 will be BC, but will the controllers...? CONUNDRUM
-
The hardware for rockband is made entirely by either Sony or Microsoft?
And of course this is a troll thread
-
unless the ps3 version of any multiplat title has better graphics/runs better, i always go with the 360 version.

Xbox 360
- Three red rings are all-but-inevitable
Still haven't had the three red rings of death, had my console for almost a year now.
-
yeah, i've never red ringed either, but as my gamerscore attests, i don't play it THAT much
-
I play my 360 constantly. I watched probably thousands of hours of dvds on my last 360 and hundreds of hours of games before it crapped out. Should it crap out after that long? No. But at least I had a REASON to replace it.
-
yeah, i've never red ringed either, but as my gamerscore attests, i don't play it THAT much
same. but I still get enough freezes and DNREs that I can't imagine it lasting forever.
SC, if you look at the original 360 design, it's clear the question is WHEN it will break, not IF. I will get them one day. You will too.
-
I've GOTTEN the red rings of death about five - six times, you know what I do? Wait about five minutes and reboot. Problem am seemed solved, total!
-
there are different red rings, only one is 'of death' iirc
-
Wii version or i'll not buy it
-
yeah is there a wii version?
-
yeah is there a wii version?
I seem to remember some guy mentioning that they'll make a Wii version eventually.
-
now that I think about it, nintendo will probably do something really pathetic like not let you hear the voice of the person with the mike when playing online.
