I'll be getting Robocop. I'd also be getting House Season 3 if I weren't so soured by the Season 1 set I got. It was so fucking corrupted I couldn't watch a few of the episodes. Double-sided cheapo DVD sets for the fucking lose.

Distant: I THINK I WILL! I DIDNT KNOW IT WaS COMING OUT OMG BUYING THINGSZZZZZZZZZZ

Cajole: Agreed, Season 1 was such sloppy crap. Season 2 dvd set was 10 times better tho and on dual layer dvds and was native widescreen, so season 3 should be fine.

What, ANOTHER re-edition of Robocop?

Why would anyone buy this? I'll just wait for a double-dip of the Blu-Ray release, the current one has one of the worst HD MPEG-2 transfers ever made. It was made in the time where no Blu-Ray films could use MPEG-4 or VC-1.

MAF, what kind of furniture do you use to hold all these DVDs?  It sounds like your collection is as big as my dvd rental store.  Actually, probably bigger, 'cause of all the non-mainstream stuff that you have.

Can you stop trying to sell PS3s for just one day?

HD films with 6x the picture definition of DVD trump all

people who buy loads of DVDs will regret it immensely when they get huge 1080p HDTVs and notice the difference; from now on, DVDs are a terrible investment

HD-DVD isn't viable and is only supported by three movie majors and one exclusive studio, which is probably going to drop the format off towards the end of the year, so the only home HD video format that is viable is Blu-Ray

but ironically enough, the PS3 also renders all other DVD playing standalones entirely useless; starting from the firmware 1.80, it's had some upscaling functions added, making it literally the best DVD playing device that money can buy

it beats the most expensive Denon DVD players out there; I didn't believe it at first, but then I began watching anime DVD series on it... over time I became stunned over its de-interlacing and its color reproduction quality

it's the only device out there which passes the most severe benchmarks judging of a DVD player's video fidelity with perfect grades

I just gave my Oppo Digital away, there's no need for it anymore

I don't know why you think Universal is going to drop HD DVD towards the end of the year.  I say mid 2008 is the earliest we'll see any concession by Universal.

I know I am going to regret asking this, but as someone who owns both a PS3 and an Oppo digital, why should I make the switch?

better picture detail, better color... once you go HD you can't go back

it's easy to rent Blu-Ray and HD-DVD films via Netflix too, so you don't have to "invest" in a format that isn't a norm yet... purchasing movies is mostly a waste of money IMO

and in the slight eventuality that say, Blu-Ray would be met with disastrous sales for years to come... it doesn't exactly matter, since all major movies are going to be released and then end up being double (and triple) dipped, so it's not like you're going to miss titles that you'd like to view, step by step they're all being released every tuesday at a frenetic pace

seriously, unless you want to play DivX files, I don't see why anyone would keep an Oppo in the living room... DVDs upscaled through the PS3 look so much better that it's not even funny

Smooth: Currently I use two 185-DVD wood cabinets with glass doors. I was thinking about getting a third, but the space limitations in my apartment has kinda made me wonder exactly what im gonna do. I have a year left on this lease before I end up moving, and ill probably move to a bigger place.

Right now I have been boxing up some of my older less-watched TV series and begun a catalog of my library to keep track of what I have. Ill probably format it and put it into a binder so when I wanna decide what to watch I can see everything I own. I keep it all pretty organized.

I keep all of my games in my room in a giant cabinet so the living room is spared absolute geekdom

And a note to Mondain:

I've seen hidef and I wasnt that impressed. I ask everyone in this thread to find a better source for audio/video recommendations than Mondain.

you have a small 720p screen, not very surprising... the native resolution for Blu-Ray films is 1080p

and even at that, to appreciate 1080p HD films to the fullest, it's better to have a huge 1080p screen... but that's the new HD paradigm anyway
