I want to start watching it, but 5 seasons is a lot to catch up.  I've heard the first season is largely skippable, though.  Is there a good jumping-on point in later seasons?

I liked the first season. :( My wife is brutally addicted to it. She's watching the "witches" episode from Season 4 right now. Lois is fuckin' HOT as a Goth chick.

I guess, I think I like the show more starting with season 3 cause they grow up a bit, but season 1 and 2 is still good tv.

I like Smallville, I will agree it's hokey at times, but so far this season has been good.  Clark is an idiot though and he treats Chloe like dirt :(.

Yeah.  He ditches her at the dance and disses her several times for Lana.

I liked the earlier seasons a little better because the filler stories weren't so stupid. 

And the witch story arc in S4 is fucking stupid.  I hate it.  Made me almost stop watching the show.

So, found this old thread, figured I resurrect it rather than start a new one.

Just started watching the show (season one) and while it is hokey, it sorta reminds me of the X-Files with superheroes. I know, Snow scored this show and the X-Files, but it's a similar structure in episodes.

Lex Luthor starting off as a good guy is pretty cool too. I wish that "oh shit kryptonite" wasn't the only thing that could stop Superman.
