Here's the deal, my friend moved into an apt right next door to mine and bought a new emachine (I know) comp with vista on it. Thing is until he gets cable hooked up at his place I told him he could use mine. Unfortunately I don't know how to get the comp to look for a wireless signal.
-
does he have a wireless adapter?
-
Hmm...I don't know, I just assumed all newer PCs had them built in. Well can you tell me where I need to go to check for the wireless signal? He did buy his own wireless router.
-
Yeah he should just be able to "search for available networks"
-
If he has a wireless router, that means that he's sending out a wireless signal for other people to pick up. He needs a wireless access point or wireless NIC card. Most PC's do not come with them. After he installs the software for it, there will be an option to monitor all available networks and connect to them.

Oh, ok. Are they easy to install? Oh, and Mupepe can you get on AIM?
-
sorry, can't get on aim right now. but yeah, they're easy to install. most will do it automatically via windows when you plug it in.

Bought this (http://www.myessentialssupport.com/product/?pid=ME1001-USB) for my roommate; all you do is install the software, plug the thingy into your USB drive and you're off.

only if you get a wireless NIC card. Just get a wireless access point.
