Title: let's get HIGH and play space giraffe

picked it up this morning for 400 pts.  it's a nice change of pace from the free roaming double-stick shooters as of late.  though, you can still use the right stick to aim.  the game is set to auto fire and you pretty much only have to control the ship (space giraffe).

from what i understood in a 1-hour playthrough this morning, each level is a grid that can be time-extended by collecting powerups, increasing multipliers and  killing as many enemies as fast as possible.  think of every extend extra, tempest and rez all in one.  the gameplay is pretty much a culmination of all the trippy shooters you've played.

where the game really shines is the sound design and music dept.  there's a ton of video game geek references that will make you laugh.  a little "leet" speak thrown in as well.  visuals, well... let's just say that i wish i had smoked a bowl before getting into this.  they're all over the place and many times you might feel overwhelmed, but if you're into psychedelic type shit, it's amazing.   i haven't tried this yet, so maybe someone can clarify -- if you load a custom soundtrack, the visuals should be synchronized with it.

i say pick this up just to experience what it's like to be inside of the mind of a nut job.  this is definitely an artistic experience more than anything, with some simple shooting mechanics added to it.  the difficulty ramps up pretty fast, so there is still lots of skill involved.

Absolutely... I never use the custom soundtrack features in games unless the music is so painfully bad *cough*excitetruck*cough that it leaves me no choice.

Weird game, I've never played Tempest. I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing! Give me tips or something.

One of the achievements is getting 10 million in the Tutorial, so that is my goal. I want to get 10 million.

I have no idea what I'm doing in this game... which is a shame because I REALLY wanted to like this, but I can't make out the bullets, there's just a bit TOO much going on. Great music and visuals though, and I love the little video game mistranslation references Minter throws in.

your shots are "hooves".  you step on the enemies.  they were pretty easy for me to see.

if they get to the edge of your powerzone (the grid which they can't go past) press B to do a jump if you have a jump saved up.  A does a smart bomb which kills all enemies.

to expand your grid, don't shoot the flowers.  they are those things that have a dot on the end of a stem and they go back a little if you shoot them.  I'm not sure if the smart bomb hits them.

you can only go left and right.  it's basically like any of those aliens games where you have to shoot them before they get to you but it's got awesome visual and gameplay changes.  which give you a seizure.  which is awesome.

I know, i figured all that out on my own, besides the flower things which I never saw' I still don't get it.  Music was nice though.
