Title: Post Photos Of Your Neighborhood/Town/City!
Post by: bork on August 26, 2007, 06:22:25 AM
IDEA STOLEN FROM GAF

I live in Kanazawa City, in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan.  It's on a peninsula...I live pretty close to the docks.  There's beaches, mountains, and incredibly fresh seafood.  The city itself is the largest in the prefecture, at around half a million people, and while not a metropolis like Tokyo or Osaka, is also not quite the countryside.  It's a nice mix of the two.

Outside my apartment.  That's my car in front.

Looks nice, but my concern is about how many pervs are walking the streets of japan? My wife is currently in the process of getting her japanese major and will be over there sometime in late 08-early 09 to study abroad for several months. I'm thinking about just coming with her as her 24/7/365 body guard. Seeing as I'd have to take a japanese language class just to get the chance to go. Wont look to shabby on my resume that i speak more than one two languages when I exit college. Even though I should be learning mandarin for market/buisness reasons.

currently i'm moving so i'm neither here nor there. But when I get settled in a few weeks i'll take some pictures of my new digs and new town.

Smart idea, especially when you're at a tight place such as a bus because chance of getting groped is 90%.

I've lived here for two years and I've never seen anybody get groped.  Don't exaggerate.

Maybe thats cause your the groper? Its not encouraging news either way for me. All you hear is that most women just accept it over there. Damn asians always non confrontational, except them damn yakuza. I wonder if I did catch a guy touching a girl without her consent, could I break his hand and get away with it? Fool's should have some damn respect towards women.

You're a real fountain of knowledge on Japan. Don't come here, please; the ignoramus quota is full.

Starscream, you are rude and uninformed.  Yes, there is groping in Japan, but that whole "women just accept it over there" shit has not happened in yeaaars.  Nowadays, whenever some idiot tries to grope, they end up arrested and on the news for everyone to see.

Besides, your girlfriend probably isn't hot enough to get groped.

So there is some form of justice handed out there. Well thats good to hear. When we sat down for the orientation they talked about the grouping a lot which was discouraging. They made it seem like most of the guys just get away with it and that it would most likely happen to the female students.

Thanks for the revealing information Ichirou, about my girl even though you've never layed eyes on her. I'm sure your not a hot drop of water yourself asshole.

It used to be that way, maybe 15 years ago or so according to my female co-workers, but things have come a long way since then.

Wow seattle looks so different. Last time I was there was back in 99. Congrats on the new house.

Ichirou: well thats good to hear, the misconception still stands though. I mean if your own study abroad advisors warn you about it and sexual harrasment warnings. It doesnt paint a pretty picture.

Well, it still happens sometimes, don't get me wrong, it's just not as prevalent as it used to be.  The thing to worry about nowadays is the guys who try to videotape girls up their skirts. :P

There's a section of town right near the station that looks like it was ripped right out of Jet Set Radio...I think about the game every time I go there.  :lol

Is your wife non-Asian?  I doubt she'll have much trouble.
