People who do know of new zealand (prior to LOTR) assumed it was part of Australia, that's my hunch. Though I would say easily 60, if not 70% of Americans don't have a clue what New Zealand is.

My perception is that the wine made in New Zealand is for women and women only....a nation full of womenly wine makers.
