No mo red rings. I baked that shit like it was an Easy Bake Oven. Now I'm back in the biz.

..for like a day or two. some people do that to OVERHEAT their systems so they can return it in case something else breaks that isn't covered by the warranty, I believe.
I'm 99% sure that it overheats it. for the RRoD, bad soldering usually causes it and using the towel trick to heat up the system temporarily reconnects the solder point or something.
RRoD is covered by the 3 year warranty though, isn't it? why did you do the towel trick instead?
-
Yeah, enjoy it while it lasts. That trick worked for me for like a day or two.

I just wanted to chill out and play some games, not run the CUSTOMER SERVICE gamut with some undertrained cooch.

Oh, I'm just telling you in case you didn't know.
-
What kind of info will I need to send it in? I'm thinking abiut calling, but I'm in my office at the moment.
-
all I know is you call 1-800 myxbox and they'll tell you to send in your console and you keep the hard drive and cables and everything.
I think they can tell if it's 3 red rings if you just send the console.
-
Haha. The Hold music at 1800myxbox is PRODIGY. It's like playing Wipeout
-
you don't need shit. everyone complains about the customer service, but i sent mine in twice and they were extremely helpful each time. as long as you're registered and/or have an xbox live account on your machine, it's painless. and it only took them 1 week to fix my console.
-
they also give you a free month of gold for the time you lost getting it repaired.

At least they'll repair it. I was fucked and had to buy a new system....then two weeks later they changed the policy. :lol :-\
-
just do it over the web. should be even more painless than dealing with someone on the phone.
-
Get ready to wait.

Find a private repairman instead of dealing with all this Microsoft nonsense, and with their Indian phone tech support.
