I never played it, but
-
Wasnt the PSOne version broken or something?
-
puzzlefighter is pretty decent.
I know I want the SFII HD REMIX.
-
yeah they rebalanced it so it might actually be playable
-
if the online is as bad as lumines, i'm staying away from multiplayer.
-
Rebalanced? Promising!

Rebalanced? Promising!
yeah, there was a good interview where they talked about how they made (slight) changes to the original patterns so that there's more than 2 usable characters. game is still mostly bollocks (I can't stand drop-n-wait puzzlers) but it might be worth 400 points. So it'll cost 800, I'm sure.
-
It is 800
They have the original and rebalanced modes on there
-
Ill probably nab it then.

One of the most popular puzzle games of all time is back with high-definition graphics, dazzling elemental effects and a new 'rebalanced X' game mode. “Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo® HD Remix” brings together Capcom's coolest fighting characters to provide extremely addictive puzzle mayhem. Enjoy single-player, local and online versus play, and spectator modes.
Classic arcade play: The game features all the classic elements from the original arcade game, including traditional X Mode. Think fast on your feet as gems fall into your character's playfield. Don't let the stack get too high.
New X' Mode: The new X' Mode has been rebalanced with adjusted drop patterns and damage to level the playing field.
Y and Z Modes: Y Mode challenges players to connect three or more gems horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Z Mode has you group four adjacent gems and rotate them to join to other same-colored gems.
Stunning new graphics: Beautifully detailed high-definition backgrounds and character art come from the talented artists of Udon Comics.
New elemental effects: Gems and Crash Gems interact with dazzling new effects.
Hidden characters: There's Akuma, Dan, and more.
Online play: Get online with Xbox LIVE® and challenge other players to Ranked and Player Matches. Follow your progress on the leaderboards, and try to score the twelve all-new achievements!

They updated the character sprites too? I thought II CE was the only one getting that treatment.
-
I think they're just upscaled, they're all blurry in the screenshots out there
-
yuk

Everyone all excited about this has been all over the Swordfighting game in Puzzle Pirates, right? RIGHT?
-
I'm all over this, even though I've only played a few minutes of it on an emulator. What time is it being released? I thought it was more like early morning.

what's that? is it on XBLA?

All XBLA games are released around 5AM EST

how could you play Puzzle Fighter if you're colorblind?
-
Some games come with color blind mode, not sure if Puzzle Fighter ever did
-
how could you play Puzzle Fighter if you're colorblind?
I adjusted the tint on my teevee. also, I played Tetris Attack instead
-
Is there a colorblind mode for guitar hero?
why would you need it? the keys physically map to the game UI, and you never look at your hands anyhow.
-
Someone was telling me that they couldn't play another game that I thought color didn't play into as well so i was just wondering.
I can't play Puyo Puyo. fortunately Puyo Puyo sucks. I have trouble with wirecutting minigames in bad Euro adventures. Puzzle fighter is probably THE most colorblind unfriendly game of all time, though, as the yellow/green are impossibly identical even by the standards of color deficient vision and there's NO visual data to differentiate gems besides color. good thing the game sucks so I'm not missing much
-
is this out now? I might download it so me and my girl can play...she likes this game.
-
yeah, puzzle fighter sucks for us colorblind folks. i can't tell the difference between yellow and green in it, either.

omfg you have shit taste confirmed.

oh, I get it - if you're too blind to play it, it sucks! shines a whole new light on the Wii hate around here.
-
Drinky does have a weakness!
-
Magical Drop > Puyo Puyo
Kururin Pa > Puyo Puyo
Puyo Puyo, Dr. Mario, and Puzzle Fighter all used the "drop-and-snooze" method of boring-ass chaining. More active puzzle games make for better strategies, opportunities, and fun.
-
I always had fun with Puzzle Fighter II, but that had more to do with the aesthetics than the gameplay, which was just average for a puzzler.
This new HD version looks awful. The people they've gotten to do the HD backgrounds on this and the stuff in SSFIITHD (quite a mouthful) have zero artistic sensibility and talent.
-
Magical Drop > Puyo Puyo
omg you are the best human being ever :bow :bow :bow

if you want a spazzy action puzzler, nothing on earth beats Magical Drop 3 Plus Wonderful
there are better competitive puzzlers, but few as frantic or fun
plus, World's boobs are awesome:

:-[ those three-eyed girls they make my rockin' world go 'round :-*
-
World's the one bisexual triocular quadruped for my five-fingered sex romps.
-
Magical Drop IS pretty awesome

okay, this game fucking kicks ass. unfortunately the 360 dpad makes it difficult to control =[. the analog stick isn't helping either. i've just placed an order for the hori 360 stick, this should make all XBLA experiences ace from now on.
oh, and multiplayer is lag free! was very surprised at how good it was. definitely worth the buy if you're a puzzle fighter fan. all the new menus and backgrounds are gorgeous. :drool
-
I'm buying the game, but I'm buying it for PS3, mostly because the PS3 controller has a better D-pad.
-
I might try one of those d-pad mods for the 360 pad. Gonna buy this now.
-
I like how practically everything is in HD... except the sprites
This game is pretty fun, just seems like another Puyo Pop clone, except you gotta get those explosion gems in order for it to work.
-
How the fuck have some of you never played PUZZLE FIGHTER before?? ???
Anyway, the original game is a bit unbalanced. Not just the home ports, the arcade game itself. Certain characters' gem drop patterns kind of sucked, making it easier for your opponent to get the drop on you. I suppose it could be argued that picking a character with a weaker gem pattern is like a handicap and more of a challenge though. Capcom fixed this issue themselves later on with the Dreamcast port, which the XBLA version is clearly based on. It had online play as well BTW. In the DC port, you could alter any characters' gem pattern to whatever you wanted to, so even Dan could end up as the best character in the game. So I think the devs of this version just took this concept and made everyone pretty much equal with gem editing. I haven't played it yet though.
Also for you DUMBASSES, the game is actually three puzzle games in one. X, Y, and Z are all different games. X is the normal PF, but Y and Z are essentially COLUMNS and PANEL DE PON/TETRIS ATTACK.
-
OMG Z IS PANEL DE PON?!?!? OMG HOLY SHIT
Add me lyte edge
CajoleJuice
-
I will, but I may not gave the game on either 360 or PS3 for a little while, since I doubt it's being released out the States right now. I have to get some U.S. points from back home first. :'(
-
Oh yea, forgot about that. :(
-
:D :D :D
I just found an online site that sells U.S. points and e-mails the code instantly after you purchase them. I got 4000 points...a bit pricey at $49, but I'm set for a while. Will buy PF as soon as I get home!
:D :D :D
-
I want to hear more about this! Is it true the game has four player versus? How does that work out?
Puyo Puyo is fun, but I would still rather play Tetris. And I hate the look of the game now; the older games were fine, but the Fever-style look is godawful.
-
Wow this game is a total dick online. Jus when you think you are about to win, all those timed blocks become real blocks and they get a huge ass combo on you.
Blahhhh guess I will have to find someone to grind online with
And how come I cant find an online game? Everyone should be playing this!
-

Uh-oh. :-\
-
does it have a colorblind mode
-
No colorblind mode
everyone is playing PLAYER MATCHES, even though the achievements are for RANKED
-
Anyone wanna play? And who got it? EVERYONE should.
-
I downloaded the demo, still trying to get a feel for it before I decide to shell out $9.99.
-
BUY IT :D
-
I'm getting my ass handed to me :'(
-
I've been doing pretty good. 30-16 in X' matches.
-
I tried it three times, got destroyed three times, and haven't touched it since. I am gonna find someone to help me boost.
-
Owned.

TEACH ME THE WAY OF THE PUZZLE! In 21-28 :-\
-
I don't know dude. I just play really quickly and try to group the same colors together. That's about it. This is my first time really playing this game.
