So summer vacation is just about over, thank god. It's been incredibly fucking boring sitting here, AND I've learned some things. For one, the vice principal is a complete and total BITCH. Every day during summer break, all the teachers come in at various times from 9-10, not on time around 8 or so. So I stopped coming in and also came in around 9, and this seemed to be fine. Then one day I came in later at 9:45 (not making excuses, I was late), and the bitch takes this dramatic pose, stops what she's doing, glares at the clock, then gives me this sly smile and says something along the lines of "aren't we a bit late today?" FUCK YOU LADY. I have nothing to do here but bake in the fucking teachers' room and your ricketedy old ass won't even turn on a goddamn fan. So since then, any time I ask a question, I get this sarcastic-looking smile from her and attitude. A few days ago, they had people come in to wax all the floors. You couldn't enter any room (including the teachers' room) for an entire day. So I asked what other teachers were doing, and an English teacher tells me that most of them probably won't even come in. She asks the vice prinipal about me, who smiles and says "It's not a vacation. Come into work PLEASE." and smirks. I come in the next day, and find four other teachers. No vice prinicipal. That bitch didn't bother showing up. So I stayed a few hours, said "fuck it," and went home. If they give me any shit later on, I'll use my paid leave.
But anyway, onto the real reason for this rant. Today I came in and found all the doors to the office and teachers' room LOCKED. That usually means there's a meeting going on, but no one is inside. So after waiting around for 15 minutes, the office lady comes by and lets me in, and tells me there's a meeting on the second floor (I don't have to go to these). It lasted for almost four hours. I got this sinking feeling it was related to me....don't know why, just did. And guess what?
They end the meeting, and an English teacher starts talking to me about a computer virus. You see, a few days ago, another teacher found a virus on the PC that I use (along with several other teachers). I don't download anything on this PC and I only go to a few sites, like Evilbore. I highly doubt it came from my usage, especially when I've been using multiple computers going to the same sites at different schools for over two years here now, and never had a problem. But of course, the FOUR HOUR MEETING was about the fucking virus, which by the way was cleared off. Apparently there was some shit because they ended up paying someone to come in and clear it off, and I assume the time was spent trying to pin the blame on someone.
These fuckers of course choose the gaijin, and I KNOW the bitch had something to do with it. So I calmly told the teacher about the virus and why I didn't think it was me (it came from a file someone downloaded...it was an .exe), because I don't download anything save for an occasional picture to use in a lesson, and the virus popped up within the last week...I haven't downloaded a single thing the entire summer. That seemed to end it, but I have a feeling this isn't over. I'm just glad school is starting up next week so they can get back to worrying over other shit.

In the past we could take study leave if we were traveling inside Japan, but now they changed the rules to make it near-impossible for ALTs to do it.
It's ridiculous and unfair and I wouldn't even mind it if they actually gave us stuff to do, but they DON'T. They just expect us to come in every day and sit on our asses.

well the last time it happened we were playing with pellet guns and one of them never fired one before so I put one pellet in and gave it to him. He cocked the gun aimed at a stop sign about 20 feet away and missed it but we didn't see the bullet because it was night. He gave the gun back to me and I tried to scare him and told him it was loaded, cocked it, and shot him RIGHT IN THE NIPPLE and he nearly died. Apparently the gun misfired and the pellet was still in there.

We can take paid leave, but that's only 20 days and I want to save it to see my family during the winter holidays.
We're treated like regular teachers for all the negative shit (they have to come in to work during summer holidays too), but not for the good shit (they get 40 days paid leave a year, plus they get 5 days off for O-Bon during the summer, while we still have to come in to work).

First summer was AWESOME. They let me come in from 9-12. I loved it because I didn't have internet yet, so I'd just go to school, check my mail and message boards, then go home for lunch.
Second summer was boring, but bearable. This was at my former base school (I wish I hadn't switched them now), and anytime the vice principal and principal were away, the teachers would tell me it was cool to go home. Sometimes I'd come in on a monday, and a teacher would say "Oh hey...they won't be here until Wed., so just sign your name for today and tomorrow, and we'll see you then."
This summer sucked fucking balls. None of the teachers here are cool with letting me leave, and then there's the bitch. Thankfully after posting my rant, I felt much better. The subject seems to be over too, but I haven't said a word to the vice principal today and I don't think I'm going to talk to her anymore unless I absolutely have to. I mainly passed the time with the internet and also getting some excercise...I did laps around the school and also talked to the kids. I got five days of cultural furlough and used some paid leave to help too. It was really unbearable being here on some days because of the weather and lack of A/C and fans.

Right. This is the problem...I'm not trying to sound lazy. I want to work, but there is absolutely NOTHING to do. I asked teachers if I could help (and did get to help two of them a little) and volunteered to check over an entrance exam test to be given later this year one day, but that's all I was able to do. I don't see the point in making teachers sit on their asses in school all fucking summer long. Give them a fucking break, and let the ALTs take off too!

No one seems to know. The teachers love telling me how some years ago, they got to have off in summer just like in the States, and could wear whatever they wanted to work, and then the board of education got stricter and stricter.

Yeah, Obon is a holiday for them, but not for us (because we are officially classified as "part-time workers" even though we work 40 plus hours a week).
They get 40 days off here, and of course, they get an end-of-year bonus! We don't get any of that.

If I wanted to, I could just up and leave after I do my lessons and it would take weeks or months for them to finally say anything about it to me, but I'm not going to abuse my job like that. One of my friends did do this before though...he didn't give a crap and no one said a word to him about it.
Plus now that school is resuming, the VP has other things to worry about it and can't take her boredom (I swear to god vice principals in Japanese schools don't do anything other than sit on their asses all day) out on me.
I kind of sensed some sort of animosity towards me from the first day she got transferred here, but never let it bother me...I was nice and made conversation, showed pictures, etc. I'm not going to do that anymore unless she gets nice again.

This woman is the first one to act like this to me...although her predecesser was kind of a dick as well. No, it was personal stuff like my wife trying on a wedding dress at a bridal fair...that kind of thing. The VP showed interest in that stuff and kept asking me about my marriage before the summer vacation. We even ran into her at a store a few weeks ago, so she must live somewhat close by.
