Title: Phew, finished Luminous Arc.

Most of my characters were level 57-60, gametime around 26.5 hours.

The hardest fights in the game were in the middle and at the end. Proper grinding and preparation will get you through most of it, but the first phase of the last boss had me on the freakin ropes. I managed to use two of my characters to distract six enemies while one of my witches basically rezzed and prepped every character killed in the first 10 turns. By the time they were through my two distractions I had an army charging them again. Muhaha. The second phase had a devastating first attack, but after that I managed to get my bearings and kick his ass. FUCK U LAST BOSS.

LEVEL UP THE SAMURAI till his last skill. OMG DAMAGE!

BTW, demi, what's this R4 thing I hear so much about?  They're selling it for 10,000 yen at the place I buy my US games from.  I don't know if that's overpriced or not.  I know it's a flash-cart thing - what kinda things does it let you do with your DS Lite?

It allows you to play games from a memory card.  I'm surprised that there're people selling that in Japan.  Aren't they really tough on piracy over there?

Yeah, well, this isn't a big franchise store or anything, it's a small shop that sells import games (from Korea and the US) to ex-pat gamers living in Japan.  Is 10,000 yen (like 85 bucks) overpriced for it?

I was just thinking it'd be nice to put all the DS games I already own in one card, but I dunno if that's worth 85 bucks plus the cost of an SD card or whatever format the R4 uses for its flash memory.  Pretty keen, tho.

They sell the R4 for around $25 in Hong Kong.  It's about the same for a WII chip w/ installation.  It's no surprise that hardly anyone over there buys legit games.

The only "pirated" game I've ever played has been Final Fantasy V, which I've already re-bought twice (once on PSX, once on GBA).  So, I'm not really one for the whole pirating games thing.  Makes me feel like a sucker when I hear demi talking about playing all that stuff on his PSP!

it's clearly not a BAD game inexplicably loved by its apologists, like, say, rengoku 2 or lair. in fact, its only REAL failing is its utter lack of ambition -- but sometimes, that isn't really a failing. it is very much a standard (and reasonly polished) SRPG -- that coulda been handled by a SNES. ironically, if luminous arc had been on the SNES, it woulda been hailed as a genre classic.

I still cant figure out why that one minor map near the end of the game slows down lol. None of the other parts of the game do, nothing demanding is going on. It has to be the water tiles

- battle conditions are much more varied
- each char can equip up to 3 Lapis Arts
- main char has a deal with a witch, allowing him to use engage ring support skills in battles, increases physical/magic attack etc. Depending on which witch you have a contract with, the results differ.

I like that it seems to be a game of decent length (26 hours according to MAF) and seems to be fun but not ridiculously overly complex (PC gaming, lawl).  I might pick this up when I go back home for the holidays or something.
