Up untill about a year ago I would go to holland once a year around the wintre holidays.
Each year in Amsterdam I would make it a point to go walk thru the hooker areas.

One time my friend and I really couldnt tell about this one girl - she looked VERY convincing and had spent alot of $$ on it. I went to a restaurant there, which used to be one of the big brothels, and on the way back to the station, we walked through the area - it was awesome, lots of little houses with really beautiful prostitutes sat in each one waiting for clients. Really old school. Not sure if they'd accept foreigners, but go have a try and report back :)

So around June of 2006, I had to go to the JET recontracting conference in Shinjuku. I decided to go a few days earlier so I could mess around in Tokyo, and I stayed at a hotel in *EDITED* that I had stayed at previously.
I believe it was on a Saturday night that I was heading back to the hotel late. I stopped at Subway to get some food, and somehow got lost, going down the wrong street. As I'm walking down this street, I get approached by a rather normal-looking woman (she didn't look like a prostitute at all) who asks me "Massage? Massage? ...Sex?" "Uh...I'm okay," I said, and kept walking. I go a little further down and figure I'd better turn around and head back to a familar landmark to find the hotel. So this means I have to walk by Ms. Streetwalker again. She sees me, smiles, and asks me again. So I decide to mess with her. She says "Sex?" and smiles, and I say "for FREE?" She doesn't seem to understand, so again I say "for free? You know, no money?" She turns around and walks away, I get a bit of a laugh. Then she asks me AGAIN and I'm like "okay, how much?" "10,000." And I say "Well, I got like 1000. How's that?" And she walks away for the final time, with me amused by this whole ordeal.
This was the first time I'd ever been approached by a streetwalker before. So as I'm walking back, I notice I'm not in the friendliest part of town, and I could have gotten my ass kicked or worse for what I did. I told some friends and my (now) wife what happened, and they agreed it was dumb. It was kinda fun though. :lol
