OMG SMOOTH
-
what you say
NWN2 now worth playing?
now actually playable?
-
Im running it almost everything high at 1280x1024 with Vsync on...no need for AA at that level. Oh, and I turned off shadows cause they only apply to character models and well..I never noticed them in the first place. Shadows always drag down performance.
Fantastic game so far. already more fun than the first.

Game was always worth playing-it starts out slow but once you get to Neverwinter Obsidian proves yet again they are in very rare company in terms of characterization and dialogue.
I had it running on a 6600GT for testing purposes at one point and it was pretty decent with shadows turned off and textures maxed. It flies on an 8800GTS and runs very well on my dualcore laptop with an X1700 in it.
-
Will buy it when they release the game+expansions in one package.
-
the first couple hours are dullsville, but once you hit neverwinter, the game REALLY takes off.
-
Does the game actually runs with a crap 6600?. Please, there are people with beast PCs and still say the game runs like crap.

How do you think it would play at 1920x1200 on a 8800 GTX? Do you think it'll be possible to turn on at least 2xAA? I don't like playing without AA even at 1920x1200. Bioshock in Vista still looked jaggy at that resolution. I only chose to play that game in Vista because there're so few DX10 games.
OMG SMOOTH
Are you calling for my attention or is the game really Smooth? Did they fix the bugs? You guys recommended that I play Titan Quest instead because of the frustrating bugs in NWN2.

nwn2 runs like butter with full settings on my crunk T5250 core 2 duo + 8600M Go laptop rig.

What about the bugs? You said that they were very damaging to the experience.
-
the latest patch -- 1.06? -- is a pretty massive improvement in terms of bugs and camera controls, too.
-
It's a great game. It ran well on my x700 with 512 RAM, even before the patch.
I love the part when you get to start building up your fortress/army. Very cool.
That Druidess cunt is the most annoying character in PC RPG history though.
-
sounds good; I'm gonna wait for the inevitable base + expansion repack tho
-
NWN2 roxxors so far. Was up till almost 3 last night playing it.
-
I'd almost go as far to say that Chapter 2 NWN2 is to dialogue and characterization as Act 2 Baldur's Gate is to variety of locales and intelligence (and range) of questing.
-
I wish our game library was an actual game library and not just a Magical People Get Games for Freebrary.
Actually, at $20, I should just fucking buy it. Is the expansion on Oct 9 going to add any new gameplay elements, or is it a "second quest" style post-end-of-first-game expansion? I presume the latter, given how BG and NWN have traditionally handled it.
Also, why does it get like 2 star reviews?
-
it got two star reviews because a) this new breed of non-pc gamer rising through the magazine ranks hates d&d; and b) the intial release was a bug-addled, sloppy performing mess. b) is completely addressed with the last patch. a) is a complaint raised by former ninthing reviewers who got bumped to a job at pc gamer or cgw when their console mag dried up.
the expansion, mask of the betrayer, adds way more epic d&d shit and a correspondingly epic campaign.
-
NWN2 > NWN imo. Lovin it.
-

What Prole said, and, in addition to it, the few bad reviews the game got (notably the 1up review that was later pulled) were mainly because of shitwit reviewers preferring the bad pizza buffet design (oblivion) over the haute cuisine (NWN2). In their minds, "freedom" to do whatever you want trumps everything else in the game, up to and including core gameplay mechanics.
-
I hate Oblivion. It's like a sandbox game with no toys, tools, water, or even sand. Actually, can we call this this genre "box" games? Like when you were a kid and given a refrigerator "box" and told to "make your own fun." Oblivion offers the same level of infinite possibility. (Note: I hear Shivering Isles has actual content.)
It is true that you see a lot of shitty-ass "sandbox" games getting that sort of pass from game reviewers. It may not be fun or compelling, but by god, you can do whatever boring non-activity you want!
Well, I have a beefy-ass rig now, the patch supposedly fixes performance issues, and my favorite thing about BG/Black Isle/Bioware games is characterization, not combat mechanics. I'll give it a whirl. Uh. Post Metroid and Persona 3. Maybe.
-
Seriously, Oblivion is the Cici's Pizza of RPGs. Tons of content to gorge yourself on in one sitting, none of it very appetizing, and you feel really yucky after you finish playing it-you KNOW you could have played something better.
-
NWN2 sounds good. If you can get by the first couple of hours. Why does Obsidian always have problems with making the first parts of the game exciting? I gave up on Kotor 2 'cause the first couple of hours were so boring. I'll give NWN2 another try with the new patch though. It'll be nice if it could now run smoothly at 1920x1200 on my 8800 GTX.

What I don't get is why the people that make fun of D&D for being nerdy are the same people that fawn over Final Fantasy. FF is 10 times more gay than any D&D game.

that's about the most apt description of oblivion yet, although one could extend it to include the sporadic heartburn of closing those goddamn oblivion gates

Put me on the list of people waiting for the bundle pack.

NWN2 rox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!`
